Exact replacements were expensive. I ordered some 120# with the same specs on Amazon. I'll know if I chose wisely Monday.

I have just a 2" memory foam topper. I ordered the 120# on Amazon and just put them on today. They work fine up and down. The bed didn't rise up on its own either. I wish I'd thought of this earlier.

I have a 3" foam topper and the stock springs are not enough. Based on you guys, my 120 lb springs are supposed to arrive today from Amazon. I am expecting them to make it so easy that the DW can lift the bed without bugging me.

On our 3731FK there is an outside locker that accesses under the bed. On the side of the bed base there is a dead bolt latch I presume to guard against someone sneaking in through there. You could install one if you don't already have it and that would prevent any chance of the bed popping up during travel.

Well the new 120 lb. springs are in and they are better than I expected! There is resistance in the first few inches when lifting but then it raises itself the rest of the way. The bed does snap down into position when you are done. DW is very happy!

My 120# springs also arrived and are installed. I can even close the bed base without the mattress on it, but it pops up quickly after a nudge. I'm wiring stuff under the bed so the mattress and topper are moved to the LR. I know it will work once everything is back and installed.

Ran them before the sleep number. We did have one of the struts pull loose from the bottom because it was installed incorrectly.

Gas spring under bed.
We did exactly the same thing. Added a topper then the bed would not stay up.. we added :
(2)20” #120 lb. struts
camping world p/n 49810
Very easy fix. About a month later the steel ball that mounts to the bed frame bent the metal bracket. After adding 2 more bolts to both sides, it stays in place now.

I added 1 more 80# to one side just add a block to keep new gas spring parallel so they don’t hit

I went to Camper World and picked Heavy Duty Struts and they worked great.

I'm finally going to do something about this. Should I just replace the 2 80lb gas springs with something stronger? I'm figuring I added ~30lb by adding the topper.
anyone tackled this problem?

We tackled the problem. Used 120# shocks initially, but turned out too strong and broke the mounts at the wood when lowering the bed. Repaired the wood and went with 100# shocks and now it's good.
