BPV Update
For those of you staying at Bentsen Palm Village, I e-mailed the manager to ask about the status of things down there, espcecially wrt FEMA.
Here is her response:
Hi - good to hear from you and we too are looking forward to your return to
the Park. No we have not been taken over by FEMA or any refugees, first
because we do not have any sites available for them since we are fully
booked, and because we are probably a little too far south for them to want
to even come here. In any case, the hurricanes did not affect us at all,
didn't even get one drop of rain from either one. We did have a few small
showers this week, and everything is really nice and green, but that is not
without HIGH water bills.. Yes Skip Shorb should be coming in this weekend
I believe, so will be a busy fellow getting that shop set up. Lots of
pleasant improvements and changes in the Park. See you in Jan. Roma

We sent for the RGV brochure from the Texas recreational Vehicle association which list 46 parks. We have got replies and price list back from 6 of them so far. Winter Ranch,Honey dale, fun n sun, park place, tropic star, trophy gardens...They all seem to be in the @ 400.00 per month for 3 months price range..is that typical. We are reading your post and marking the parks you all mention then looking them up on the web..The 400.00 price range is not bad at all or are we getting the "cheap" ones first. We will not be doing this till next winter.. Just noted that the RGV is 1750 Miles from our driveway..Boy????

Ont Mont
this is great news! I wrote a friend from Houston, he says he does not hear anything about parks being full of FEMA trailers.

John, thanks for the update. We're looking forward to our time there. First time in the valley for us.
Rich, Bentsen Palm Village is a very nice place and we're paying $414/month for two months while there. I don't think this is among the cheaper places to stay. I'm sure we'll pay for electricity on top of that. In Minden, NV, a month's worth of electricity cost us $51. We ran AC during many days and electric heaters most nights.
