adios mi amigos
The day of giving up the Montana is approaching quicker than we thought it would. We did some research on how to price it (NADA, CW loan guides, etc.) and had it advertised. In the meantime we were continuing our search for the right Class C. We ended up finding a 32' Class A that was reduced 25% due to being a leftover 2016. It has things we were going to have to give up by going to a Class C, like the larger frig, 50" TV, and two comfortable leather chairs.
We had the dealer give us the initial numbers on a trade. A couple days later they put another $10,000 in the deal and we just couldn't pass it up. We take delivery on August 24th!
Again, thanks to all on this forum for the helpful advise over the past few years.

We will have to get together and say hello. We are in the NE corner of Cape Coral. We go up to Punta and Port Charlotte all the time. Headed that way in the SOB around October 1.

We feel like newbies all over again. Thought we found a new SOB MH that fit our needs. Even though initial contact with the dealer's salesmen wasn't positive I simply chatted with the GM for the parent facility and all went well after that. Paperwork initially done and delivery date set. We shopped out our new insurance and paid for 3 months, plus set the drop date on our Montana insurance. For Florida license/title you have to submit insurance declaration pages.
Engine light had initially been on when they moved this unit during first demo. During test drive it had stayed off. Day before delivery it was back on. They told me and asked me if I wanted them to try to take care of it. Of course I advised them I wasn't going to pay all that money the next day for something that wasn't right. Instead of trying to get it into a big truck center they pawned it off onto a large Ford dealership (Ford V10 gas engine). Of course a Ford dealership can't lift a 20,000 pound MH. Now delivery was being put off another week or two. I cancelled the deal, two weeks wasted plus I felt like I was trying to buy my first RV.
A different MH had just arrived at another dealer. Instead of new it was a 2014 with only 3,000 miles. It is nicer, bigger, and cheaper. Plus based on my experience with RV's, all the bugs just may already be worked out of it.
Just came back from road test. Could literally drive this monster down I-55 with one finger on the wheel while passing semi truck/trailers. Couldn't begin to do that with the one we cancelled the deal on. May be on to something now. But if something happens to this deal I just may stay in my 3725RL for a long time. Based on all the looking we have done at MH's, we would have to buy at least a 40' MH with 4 slides to get anywhere close to the same livability and storage.
Leaving my changed signature the same for now. The new dealer is a big one compared to the first one, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. I sure couldn't find hardly any issues during the test drive and initial inspection.

I think you may be onto something staying with the 5er. Too many MHs burn down on the road. Far to many thing to go wrong what with all the components that make up the MH JMHO.

It is a done deal. Sitting here in my SOB motor coach typing this. Got a 2014 38' gaser with 3,200 miles on it. Still had 9 month factory Ford warranty plus I got a 5 year extended thrown in for $1,700. One of the first things I noticed was that my fresh water tank has a gravity fill and is fully exposed inside a basement compartment! the DW could probably change it out in an hour! The other thing I noted was that the black and gray tank valves are fully exposed in the huge convenience center so those could easily be serviced or changed out. 1800 watt inverter with golf cart batteries powering the residential 18cu frig won't be hard to get used to, nor will the Onan generator.
We only had to travel about 65 miles, after switching out, back to our present CG. But it sure is a different way to travel. No more getting a bottle of water or soda out of a cooler, the DW just spun her captain chair around the sauntered back to the frig.
Think I am happy.

As of tomorrow, we will finalize the sale of our 2005 Montana 3400 RL to its new owners. We have reached the point where the wife is just not able to travel due to her health plus needing to care for her 90 year young father. We have enjoyed following all of you nice folks as you have traveled and discussed your adventures as well as problems over the years. Best of luck to each of you.
Regards,
O.V. and Kathy Bonner
