North Pole AK
We made it to our Volunteer Park Host job at Chena Lakes Recreation area last night. What night? I was outside with the dog at 1:30 AM and it was still daylight. We have a beautiful large full hook up site and I think it will be a wonderful summer. We went to the Santa Claus House today. That is quite the place. Xmas year around.

Sounds neat enjoy your experience. I have a niece in the Air Force that was stationed there or somewhere near there. I hope you got blackout curtains. LOL.

I spent 11 months at Eilson AFB, about 5 miles or so from North Pole, in 71-72. Had a great time during the daylight months...winter was a bear!!

Last time I was in Alaska it was -34 degrees Fahrenheit. It was a work trip to Clear AFS. I spend time in fairbanks and spend a few day trips to north Pole. What beautiful country to visit. Denali National park is awesome even at that time of year.
Got hands on tour of University of Alaska and the HAARP heater facility.
I know all about the conspiracy theories on that one.
But is all in my line of work.
I've also been to Thule Greenland but Alaska is just so beautiful any time of year. Loved the fact that you can pull into any shopping mall and find engine block plug in's for diesels. Of course at those temps it was well needed. And only -35 in October I can't imagine it being colder. But It was a work trip and not camping.
And the crows are respected spiritually by the people. I visited eielson afb and fort_wainwright
Enjoy your time there but be prepared to move further south camping in a few months.

We have finished our job for the Corps of Engineers at North Pole We are spending a few days in Homer,AK before we head to Mn for 2 months and then it is off to the next job at Ocala National Forest in Fl. Hope the Monty makes the Alaska highway one more time. I think it will as the road was not too bad getting here. It should be better now in the fall.
