Dish tailgater problem solved!!
Bought a Dish Tailgater and could not get the dang thing to work partial signal,NO signal limited stations etc... when it did work must of called Dish 10 times about the problem FINALLY a rep told me to Ditch the 50 ft coax that comes with it because it is to long for the signal to reach the receiver and buy a 25 ft double wrapped high quality RG-6 cable What do ya know? WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! works great everywhere I go now so FYI to everybody that is having problems with yours Go get a shorter 25 ft quality Coax and ENJOY!! I asked then why do they include a long cheap 50 fter if it does not work well???? her answer?? it works "fine" for some folks, they should tell you that in the manual that could be a problem YA THINK???

I will have to try that. Usually works with the 50' but sometimes I have to cycle it 2-3 times before it finally settles in.

Yep it makes a world of difference! they sell double wrap low interference RG-6 just for HD satellite applications it is twice as thick as the cheap coax I had to pay 20 bucks but money well spent

I was thinking of purchasing one. Thanks for the heads up. You take those little scooters with you in the truck?

I bought one (bigger brother model the Flex but same idea), had so many problems I took it back and got Winegard's competing model. Worked perfect right out of the box. Two hours on the phone was enough for me. Would have been nice if they told me about the 50ft cable issue. Oh well, I'm more than happy with what I ended up with.

Where do you get the coax? Is size the only way to tell if it is the higher quality?

That's interesting. We have a 100' coax with our "set it all up manually" DirecTV dish on a tripod. Works just fine.

The Tailgater dish is about half or less the diameter of a tripod mounted dish. Receiver has to send power and aiming signals out to the Tailgater and read the sat signals back over the same wire. Probably makes it much more sensitive to accurate pointing.

I ran into the same problem as Bigskyjimmy, but mine was self inflicted. I coiled the excess cable and stuck it in the access hole to the convenience center. It tailgater sure didn't like that. I've since used the 50'er (using it now as I'm in trees and need the extra length ). When stretched out, it seems ok. Can't miss with the better cable though.
