First guess would be that if the black tank is draining slowly, that means the valve is not opening fully, and combined with a hard pull, I would look at kinked cable run in the underbelly (assuming like most models, it is a cable run from the pull to the valve).

Perhaps a cheap fix is in order, such as a replacement metal handle. Don't know if this one will work, but with some searching, I am sure something can be found:
Metal Waste Valve Handle

I had the same problem with the plastic handle. The montana handle has a hole thru the handle and a screw goes in the hole and screws into the cable end piece. All the metal handels I could find in RV stores are threaded and screw on to the end of the cable. I am going to take a piece of aluminum stock and make a couple of handels with the screw hole in them. Its easy to see that the stock handle is weak with a screw hole in it.

I should have added that the handle is on a rod that is on the end of the cable and has a hole in it for the screw to go into. The rod on other RV has threads on it and the handle screws on the rod.

Had the same problem with the handle on our kitchen gray tank. Had the rig at the service center for some other things that took several days. They replaced it the first day and then broke it themselves on day two. After that they gave me a spare handle and since I now have a spare it hasn't broken since.

I replaced mine with another plastic one 3 years ago and no problems since.
If you're continually breaking plastic handles, metal is definitely the way I would go even if I had to manufacture my own.
Don't forget to lube the cable and blade as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions the metal seems like a good way to go I think I will drop the cover under the belly and check it all out just to be sure nothing is sticking and the cable is ok BigFrank !!!

Question for you is how do you go about lubing your blades as you described?
