Technology is great!
We just upgraded our Dish Network 722 DVR to the Hopper. Not only is the picture quality better, in our opinion, but the added tuners allow for more recordings, including Prime Time.
What else I like is that with a Sling adapter, we can watch TV or recorded events on our iPads. Why is this good for us? We have a large deck on which we erected a 10x10 gazebo which houses a treadmill. Now, we can watch TV while exercising and it is all wireless!

What antenna are you using? I've been told I can't use the hopper with my winegard.

I'm using a MotoSat DP3. You can see it in our signature picture.
Another neat thing is that once a Joey is programmed from a Hopper, via coax, it can then be disconnected and with a wireless USB card, will act if it is connected by coax. It's all Ethernet driven.

Yes. It is officially supported on the Hopper and unofficially on the Joey, meaning the installers won't know about it. The Joey needs to be connected to the Hopper via coax to initialize it and then you can disconnect and put a wireless USB card in it.
I think they are trying to compete with U-verse, or TV Anywhere.
Edit: the Hopper can be wireless to the router, but it does need a coax from the satellite dish. The Joey does not need a coax after being initialized for the first time.
