Front Cap to Cab Clearance While Turning
I know one always needs to be prepared, but in reality how many of you have come anywhere near turning the truck 90 degrees to the fiver? In over 18 years of RVing at various lakes from Texas to Nebraska, I've never encountered a need to turn shorter than say 70 degrees. Even on gravel, a 90 degree turn puts quite a bit of stress on truck and fiver.

Have a slider and a short bed truck and have never had to use the slider yet.

X what Dick said. I find my closest touch to the bed when I back the trailer down a hill to a camp site, and that with near 8" of bed clearance.

I have a shortbed and a Pullrite slider hitch. I've seen the slider move often enough to know that I'm real glad I have it. It allows me to concentrate on my maneuvering instead of eyeballing the hitch.
Turning 90 degrees? Not yet.

I have had to a few times. Like doing a U-turn in a cul-de-sac. Fortunately, that doesn't happen often. But it HAS happened.

I've had to do it a couple times but don't recommend it unless absolutely necessary. It puts a tremendous strain on the 5ers tires and wheels.

Never had to, and never hope to. As indicated previously, puts a harsh strain on the fiver tires. Even when I back in to a site at minor angle, I always pull out and then back in to relieve that tire stress. At a 90 degree angle, you would be dragging the tires.

Hopefully you will never have to make a maximum turn. So far we have never had a real tough turn, especially backing. Some places are tougher than others but "a man has to know his limitations" , never over do it, only what you feel comfortable with, and never be too proud to ask for help. Larry

We have a pull rite hitch and love it, some day you will be stuck in some small parking lot and can't get out and the pull rite will get you to about 100 degrees, I had the wife out telling me how much I had as she said its a 1/2" as that was close but we were stuck in a dead end parking lot and couldn't get out back wards up a steep hill into 6 lanes of traffic. so yes I have used it and love it. sailer

We have had to get out of some restaurant parking lots that would have required unhitching and re-hitching.
Now, I think that since we have discovered what the super-glide is capable of, that we get into more of those situations because we know we can get out! with a short bed truck, the auto-slider is the only way to go. we also book some tighter spots now that we know what we can get in and out of.
90deg +some, no problem!

I have done it when I had SOB of fiver and broke out the back window. I was at a dead end road and had to back up a quarter of a mile and then make a sharp right while backing and a drop off on that small driveway that I was backing into. I have never done it with the Monte on there. I guess that kind of makes you a little more careful or something like that.....JB

$1440 repairs the rear corner of a Dodge Megacab. We've been in some really tight spots over the past 5 years and once when the rear wheel went off the edge of a narrow road the Monty kissed the rear corner. The Monty wasn't even scratched.
I got boxed in at our storage place several years ago and had to hitch up the Monty at 90 degrees to get it out.
The KOA in Sugarloaf Key, FL has some tight campsites that will test the suspension, the tires and the drivers patience. Fortunately the campground people always help guide all campers to back in.
