CLOSET DOOR LOCKS
The plastic door lock on the sliding doors in the bedroom broke off. Can't believe it was made so chintzy.
Has anyone come up with a more sturdy type lock?? Metal or better plastic??
If so, from where did you by them?? And if I can only use the one the coach came with, must I go to a Keystone dealer to buy a new one??
Thanks

Larry, I would think that any rv dealer would have them. When you get them, place an "o" ring on each screw between the plastic door lock and the wall. That gives them more flexibility.

If it's still under warranty the dealer or Keystone should send you some. Worked for me, but I bought some at the rally also, because as you say they are crap.

We saw them at the local RV dealer, about $4.00 for 2, but opted to use the stick in the door tracks instead. I padded the ends of the stick so they won't rub and scratch the woodwork.

I picked up a set like these the last time I was at Camping World. More or less generic I think. Probably available at most any RV parts store.

Here's a link to Markarios RV where I get some of my hard-to-find RV parts:
https://www.makariosrv.com/products/...2C-2-pack.html
Unfortunately, these are plastic and therefore might just break again. IIRC, there was someone who had a link to metal ones which would be a longer term replacement. Don't forget to take into consideration there would be a slight increase in weight.

I've bought the replacements at CW and most any dealer. They keep breaking and I keep replacing. Sure would like to find some that I don't have to keep replacing.

I might be wrong but I think Larry-P is not asking for a direct replacement, but if there is a BETTER/sturdier (superior) product out there somewhere, made of heavior plastic of even metal. I don't know of any, do you!

Not the answer to the specific question, just an observation.
No need to snap the doors locked when we are not rolling/traveling down the hard road.
Reverse the doors, the door on the right goes left, etc.
Do not snap into the door locks until it is time to roll again. If you are somewhere for an extended time, this will save lots of sore fingers, busted nails, and broken locks.
Also, don't slam the doors and gently pry the locks back when opening. Those o rings help too.
We have only broken one since June of 2003. I did not even remember that, but, CountryGuy says we did, since he changes that sort of thing, I'll go with his memory.

Thank you for all of the good information.
I like the ideas of putting an "O" between the wall & bracket and about reversing the doors when parked.
You RV'ers are a smart bunch.

Like others, we reverse the doors when stationary. And we put the o-rings over the mounting screws, between door frame and latch. We have the kind like BB_TX shows in that picture, not the newer type latches. We've never broken a latch.
The o-rings were four cents each at Ace Hardware. The o-rings also make it easier to release the latch to open the door.
I can't take credit for the o-ring idea. I read that here on the forum years ago.
