Memphis campgrounds?
We are getting ready to hit the road. we will go to pigeon forge for a week then on to memphis DW wants to eat at the neelys BBQ place. we were there in 99 went to graceland stayed across the road at graceland KOA. I have heard most folks stay out of town now. I would like some thoughts on where to stay from folks that have stayed around Memphis recently. just want a good safe place to stay for a couple of days hopefuly PA.
One week left "YESS"

We usually stay in Tunica at Sams Town Casino but it is under water now, Many there will be flooded so make sure you check with the campground.
Have a good trip

We stayed at the KOA just west of Memphis, very nice place, they even have short order breakfast for a very reasonable price. I don't remember the price of the campground--it was between 30 and 40 I think. It should not be flooded as it is on the west side of the Interstate in Arkansas. we did look at the campgrounds next to the mansion--there is one I would not stay at (I think it was elvis presley Blvd campground, it was a PPA one)the other one, Graceland RV park looked like it was OK. it seems to be associated with a hotel. we drove through the PPA one and the sites aren't that big and it is on a hill.

Hey Bobbie we were with the Kelpes when they were at the West Memphis KOA in Arkansas. We stayed at a local motel (Comfort Inn) because we were on our way back from Alabama and just happened to be heading in the same direction. The CG that the Kelpes stayed at was a nice CG. We arrived before they did and the hosts were great. We went on to our motel and the hosts let Jan and Paul know we had been there. The next day we headed for Graceland with Jan and Paul and we following our excursion, we went to Interstate BBQ to eat. That BBQ is owned by the Neely family but is not the Neely's from the Food Channel restaurant. Their restaurant is in downtown Memphis. We never made it to that one. The BBQ was OK but I've had better! No place to park a Monte however! The drive back to Memphis was easy on the Interstate and only took us about 15-20 minutes from the KOA!
Hey, since you're heading West, are you going to make the Central Plains Regional Rally in July? Sure would like to have you! IF you can't make it and you're around Omaha give us a hollar and we can share some MOC time together!

We've stayed at T.O. Fuller State Park a couple of times and it was just fine. Driving in might give you pause, but it is safe and pretty. We've also stayed across the river at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park right on the river. Very pretty at night and you can watch the barges on the river.

Loved the Tom Sawyer Park on the River but I'm betting that is under water now. If I remember correctly even the laundry room was up on stilts because the water got so high there.

Thanks folks this is what I need. I am afraid that the water will be a problem but hope not. I will look at the KOA we would really like to stay at tom sawyers sounds like a great place I love to watch the river. It will be 2 to 3 wks before we get there so just maybe the water will be gone. It has I-40 blocked rite now.
