Snotels
My wife and I have a hidden place in the Medicine Bow National Forest that we like to do a little boondocking. This location has some kind of government weather equipment/station. After some investigation, these sites are called Snotels. They relay info to the USDA. The below link is FYI. It pertains to the Western US.

You can click on your state, and find a Snotel location of interest. After that, I go to the temperature last seven days, and click on that. You can get the following information.
Elevation
Lat/Long
Snow water equivalant
Snow depth
YTD precipatation
Current temperature
Previous days max/min/avg temp.
Maybe I should have put this in the Boondocking forum, but I think this may be a helpful tool for those who enjoy the western part of our country.
