Pressure Pro 1 - 0 - 1 New Tires Here I Come
Well, I had a blow out AGAIN this year! I blew out a Mission tire last year and the Mission folks replaced all 5 tires with these Freestar tires and this year while we were on our 3 month trek one of them EXPLODED! The tire was the front left on the driver's side and it took out the entire left side fender well area....$2300 damage! The good news was that I was almost home and limped in on the spare. I didn't get any warning from the Pressure Pro until it blew....sounded like a cherry bomb in the truck! The tires were all inflated to 80psi cold. I also had a valve stem fail on my swivelwheel "trailer" and got the proper warning and pulled over before the tire came apart....THANKS PRESSURE PRO! I'm in the market for tires now and it looks like the XPS Rib is a good bet...comments!!!

I don't know what size tires you need, but Michelin tires are very good as are the Bridgestone Duravis tires. Haven't heard anything about the XPS Rib tires.
I've had very good results from Michelin on my tow vehicle and the Bridgestones on the Montana. OPM LonnieB, a member of this forum,. He's one of the most knowledgeable tire people I've personally met. Glenn is another tire expert, however I haven't met him and talked to him face to face.

For a 3400 with 7000 lb. axles I don't think XPS Ribs makes a tire to support the full capacity of your trailer, their rated at 3042 per tire.If you have 6000 lb. axles the Ribs might be a possibility

Harry, You may have already done this, but I think a smart move would be to weigh your rig and determine your tire requirements at that point. It is true, that if you travel at max weight you may be over the limit for E rated tires and that could be why you are having the tire problems. BTW: LonnieB recommends the Hankook F19, (among others), for trailers which is rated at 3300 lbs each, considerably less expensive than the Goodyear G614, they are also rated for 70mph if speed is your thing. I have a heavy 3400 which I will be replacing the tires on this Spring, my inclination at this point is to put the Goodyears on as they are a little heavier duty than the Hankooks. Fortunately, there are several good choices. Let us know what you decide.......

The Pressure pro will not warn of a blow out( sudden catastrophic failure) I assume the freestar tires were ST's and had the proper tire load rating. We are running E range LT tires and are over our tire load ratings as we found out at our Rally weigh in.. We need a tire with a load rating of 3500lbs..min...
The weigh in reminds me of a sign I had on my desk at work "Don't tell me anything I don't want to know" The weigh in was just that....

Rich, The Goodyear G614 is rated at 3750 lbs at 110 psi and also rated for 70mph. This is all according to LonnieB. We are making plans to visit him after the Spring Rally and have ours replaced. Don't be standing too close to a cliff when you ask about pricing.....I have never seen a tire this expensive. BTW, When I had a Mission "Blowout" the Pressure Pro went to 80-0 in one fail swoop and the alarm was constant. I wasn't going very fast when it happened and suffered no trailer damage. Just call me Lucky, I guess.

Yes Phil We have priced the Goodyear tires and we will need to have new rims. There are other brands not quite as expensive but just as good. We just got these tires on the 3400 as a result of our shackle failure. I am thinking of getting two more of the same brand and putting them on the dually.(the truck will have 30K on it by the time we return to Ohio) They will be fine there. Then robbing a bank for a set of camper tires and rims.. Maybe we can get a bailout????

Rich, Can you see a weight stamp on the inside of the rims?
