Microwave/convection oven vs 2000k Honda Generator
In our 2006 Monty, the Microwave/Convec. oven shuts down when we are drycamping and using our 2000k Honda generator. I even bypassed the trailer system and hooked the generator directly to the Microwave but it still shuts down. The generator keeps running, the microwave just shuts off. We do not use convection oven, just the microwave portion.
Does anybody have any suggestions???
Thanks,
Phil

Phil,
I don't know the wattage of your oven but ours is 1300 and the 2000 watt Honda won't run it. I have tried other peoples Honda's with the same results.

The Apollo ovens are rated at 1800 watts (16 amps), per the sticker on the inside. Open the door and look down and to the left towards the hinge.
We need to use two in parallel to use the microwave.

Wow, looks like I either use the propane oven or buy another Honda. Thanks you all for the reply.

We must be lucky. We have run our Apollo microwave several times off the Honda 2000i this past year. I just checked and our Apollo is rated 1800 watts also. Now that I have acknowledged this I know the next time I try using the microwave it I will have that problem also.

A while ago I talked to the nice lady at Mid-West Supply who fields questions on Appolos. I was trying find out what, if anything, I could do to avoid the kind of failures that were common at that time with Appolos. One thing she said was that it is important to have a good power supply that will supply the required voltage. She maintained that one reason people were having problems was because some campgrounds had inadequate power (low voltage I suppose). As I said, this is what she told me, I'm passing it for what its worth (don't shoot the messenger).
We have often run our Appolo from our 4000 watt generator, but that has a large margin of power capacity.
(Generator ratings often are based on peak load, what can yours run as a continuous load? We have a friend with a 2000k, and he had trouble running the water pump in his stick house, perhaps the k series don't have the continuous power rating that the i series do.)

Our Apollo will run on only one Honda 2000 but, you can hear that it is straining. We have run both the microwave and the convection oven with our two Honda 2000s and the parallel kit with no problems.

I had 2 Honda's EU2000. For some reason (I can't explain) one of them would seem to produce more power than the other one. Maybe that is why some people can run on one and some can't.

My 2000 honda will run my micro, but I need to be sure my converter is not on high output and nothing else is on.
I know if your battiers are low, your converter will pull more juice and will reduce the available power for the micro. This my be why some can't run theirs on the 2000 honda..

I think another factor is altitude. We were in MOntanaat around 4,500 feet elevation or so. The higher the elevation, the less output from the engine.
Again, thanks to all of you who responded to the problem.
Warm regards,
Phkl
