Our 3400 spends 6 to 7 months each year in SW Florida so the mold was pretty ugly on our strips. I tried the bleach idea but even though it took some off they still had deep pitted mold and didn't look fresh and white.
I stopped at an RV parts store and picked up 100' feet (4 packages of 25', 3/4" wide and did all the lower along the slides and storage area and up and down in the four corners, under $25.00.
Labor was minimal, maybe 2 hours, over 3 days. They go on very easily.
This is my kind of maintenance !!!

John, thanks for the tip on using bleach water to soak the moldings to remove the stain. We tried it and it works great. It looks like new again. Rex and Sharon MOC 1717

John,
Ditto on soaking the strips in bleach water. I soaked mine and it did an awesome job. They came out spotless! Thanks for the advice.

Ditto on the soaking in bleach! I took my molding off today (after many attempts at cleaning with all other stuff)soaked them, did a little scrubbing and they came out great! One suggestion I have is to use a permanent market and make an arrow on the backside to indicate the top of the molding. This will allow you to re-install them as the came off. Thanks for a good tip!

Phil: Remove the screws (square heads) at each end and just pull the molding out of the track.

I use the product "reliable' on the outside of my rig for everything but the roof. It gets those black streaks off and the mold look on the trim. I know...where do you get it? I buy it at my campground but I bet you can find it online.
I just found the website. http://www.reliableproductsonline.com
Wally wrold does not carry it. Good LUCK. Rosyriz

On removing the strips...when I started this thread, I was referring to my '05 3670RL, that has a vinyl insert in a metal strip. I notice that newer models are using a different type of strip to cover the joints. My comments, and I think those of most other posters, are directed towards the earlier type of strip. The newer strips are quite different.

Melv just had to replace some of the vinyl strips on our rig because of yellowing and cracking from the desert sun. He bought the vinyl at CW along with some silicone caulking and had no trouble at all replacing them. He caulked all of the seams to prevent the wind from catching them while driving down the road and we have'nt had any problems at all. It was a pretty easy fix.
