Help! Are the shocks bent?
I don't know how to put a picture in, but I can describe this. my DH took the shocks off the rig. They are shocks that have a threaded rod 3-1/4" long at each end. One end of the shock is bent at a 15 degree angle. (all 4 shocks are the same way) I have found a Monroe Shock, #555001 that measures the same compressed and extended as mine - except both ends are straight????? Do we buy these Monroe's and bend the one end to a 15 degree angle????? Sounds like a real jerry-rigged system to me. I can't imagine montana doing that, or maybe I can.

Now THAT is strange, 15 degree bend. I would think it is a stress bend, but not on all 4. I believe I would take this to a dealer and ask.. Didn't say buy, just ask.

Wow I can't believe that nobody else has bent shocks. My DH says that straight shocks won't fit the spacing where the plate mounts are located. They are two different angles. I have been hoping for an email answer from a moc member who has the same unit and was looking for shocks a few weeks ago. I emailed him but haven't gotten a reply yet.

I've decided to order original shocks from C.W. I know they will be Chinese, but they will be the right ones. Mostly I want to see if they are bent when they send them. Stupid reason I know. I plan to call Keystone and talk to them on Monday about the bend. C.W. never heard of bent shocks, and either have any of you so I guess we might have to retrofit some new shock plates on it. Wish I had ordered the Monroes - but what can I do with my weird problem? The nearest Montana dealer is in Rockford, about 75 miles away.

Who built the frame/suspension (Lippert?), I'd call them if Keystone can't help.

I got mine from Moryde and they are Monroe and would have to check my notes to see if they are the same numbers, the ends are straight, you might look at my post with the picture of how they were mounted

It is Lippert and I have their phone number. We called Keystone and they handed the ball off to Lippert.

The RV salvage store in Elkhart had dozens of shocks there last year. I didn't check numbers but I bet they are all about the same size. I know they all had the long threaded studs.

Bob and Sherry, have you tried your nearest keystone dealer? They don't have to sell Montanas to order parts from the factory for you. Our local dealer here sells Keystone products, not Montana, and I have often ordered things from Keystone through them.
I have to admit, I have never looked real close at our shocks, only to see that we gat whet we ordered new!
I've also found out the parts from Keystone were a lot cheaper(cost) than c.w, even with my presidents club discount.
Just a thought!
