convertor not charging
Need some help. The convertor is not charging the battery or supplying the 12 volt system. There is power to the convertor from the 120 relay. Is the convertor toast. This is a 2001 model.

Check the manual for your charger it should have directions to check it out. Lost one on my SOB, it was easy to check. Just checked the manual on the unit installed in my Mountianeer and it gives the procedure. If you don't have the manual (didn't get one with my Mountianeer),check on line thats how I got mine. Good Luck.

I would check the fuses on the converter to make sure they are not blown. Especially the 30 amp ones. Then last resort replace converter.
Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Agree with check fuses. That's what was wrong with mine, fuse was not installed properly.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. Along with checking the fuses I checked the AC circuit breakers, found the one for the Converter was tripped. I reset it and all was fine.

I'll let you in on what I learned last Friday. There's a silver/gray box wired directly to the back of the fuse panel that is usually behind the fake wall inside the storage area. Take the wall off and look for the box. If it's not there, it could be where mine was, behind the fuse panel. If you still don't find it, trace the white and white with red stripe wire to its origin and you'll find the box. Once you find it, check the shovel fuses (mine were 30 Amp) at one end of it to make sure they are properly inserted and not burned out.
Another key to look for before you dig is to plug your rig into 30A or 50A and check the monitor panel. If it does not light all of the LEDs while plugged in, the problem is most likely a fuse in the converter.
Hope this helps. I found out what was wrong with mine is that one of the fuses was not totally inserted and was intermittent at best. When the tech pulled the fuse out, he found it came it too easy. When he plugged it back in, it took considerably more force to insert.

On the chance that the converter IS working correctly you may still not be seeing a DC output as there are a pair of DC fuses on the DC Distribution panel that the converter output goes through to power the Bus. Mine were blown and it took alot of trouble shooting and eventually tracing hand over hand the output from the converter to see where the open in the circuit was.

Mine quit working on our last trip. It was the circuit breaker.

A caution when replacing fuses on an Iota converter. You must loosen the small #1 phillips head screw located near the fuses. You won't get a correct fit when installing the new one if you don't. (and tighten it after the replacement!)

I was busy for a couple of days and didn't get a chance to try the things that you suggested. I checked the 30 amp fuses and found one of them had blown. Ithougt that I had check it but must not have. Thank to all of you for your suggestions. Jim
