LEAKING HYDRAULIC FLUID
Has anyone had any trouble with hydraulic fluid leaking from the pump that operates the slides. Yesterday, I noticed that there was fluid sitting in the tray that the pump is attached to. I had the same thing happen in my "05" 2955 model. We live in a cold climate and I figured that when I was getting ready to go south, opening the slides to pack the trailer may have caused the pump to leak. My dealer told me that there was a rubber gasket between the plastic reservoir and the pump and that Keystone would not just replace the gasket but would replace the whole unit which they did on the "05" and it seemed to be ok after that. However, I have not opened the slides on my "08" 3400RL since I winterized it back in early October and at that time I made sure that the tray was dry. Yesterday I noticed the fluid. Could the rubber gasket in the pump shrink up in the cold weather causing it to leak? Any info you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had a similar leak and the dealer "tightened the screws" and it has been ok since then. The cold weather cold have shrunk the gasket. Try checking the screws or let the dealer do it under warranty.

There was a thread about the weight of the tank, which is not supported could cause it to crack and leak. The thread mentioned putting something under the tank to take the weight off where it bolts to the pump. I put a piece of one inch Styrofoam under mine even though it was not leaking.

Paintpro99, your pump/tank connection is only an O ring. Mine has stopped leaking since it has leaked down to the 1/3 full area. I estimate that about a quart has leaked out on mine since we bought our used trailer in March.

Clutch - how much is left in the reservoir after you extend your slides? I'm sure you don't want the pump sucking air so you probably have to keep a pretty close eye on the level to make sure there is enough. If it was me I would probably forget to check & that would be the time there wasn't enough fluid in there. I need all the extra margin I can get so would probably be checking to see why it was leaking. mike

Mine has a small yet constant leak. I have put marks on the plastic tank where the fluid level is with the slides in and out, that way I can tell if it's getting worse.

Ronnilu, my slides are out until the first of April. When we leave here I will add fluid after we bring the slides in. I sure don't want an air bubble getting in there when I put them out when we get back home.

Had a long talk with Lee at Lippert yesterday about my hydraulic leak which seems to be coming from the crimp/ connector area of the line where it attach's into the module the switches are on. He suggested to tighten down the lines a bit..maybe a 1/8 of a turn, do not over tighten...Note.. Lippert provided the bulk hydraulic line and connectors to Keystone and they are assembled and installed by Keystone craftsmen. The lines are a Keystone Warranty item and since our Keystone Warranty is up we are on our own (we do have the extended warranty.) I WILL call team Montana and have a chat with them although I do not beleive it will do any good.
