Hi Donpd,
That side drain on the JCW looks pretty handy. When full these tanks are going to weigh 200 lbs. It looks like the CW has to be lifted to drain. If I were buying I'd probably go with that JCW.
Are you going to be on the site for long periods of time? When we are without sewer we can last about 2 weeks on the Black. We open the valves on grays to combine the two which gives us more time on them. I filed the end of our sewer line so it was perfectly smooth and flat and changed the end cap to one with a garden hose fitting in it. I then added a short on/off garden hose valve there. No leaks. When dumping I close the Gray valves and drain the Gray residue that's in the line using the small hose valve and then take off the outside cap to do a normal dump.
We use the Camp Grounds showers when in this situation, so we can go a long time on the Grays as well.
Wish you the best and Happy Camping

If you are using the tank a lot at one place I would go with a four wheel unit with dump valve. We carry a two wheel model but may go for 6-9 months without using it. Remember if you need to carry the tank with you it does take a lot of space. JMHO

I have one the same as the JC Whitney's that I use to dump at home. Works fine for that but its only a 30 yard haul from the trailer to the septic.

I have the one like JC Whitney's. It easy to pull just hook to a ball on the bumper or trailer hitch just don't go to fast and is very easy to dump.

Got a neighbor that has a less than year old Tote-N-Stor 25 gallon he wants to sell for $65 originally paid $130.
If interested email or PM me as I will be heading up through Tallahassee this coming Sunday.
I can bring it along and we could arrange a meet somewhere around I-10 and Rte 231.

We have a 24-gal "Blue Boy" tote tank that we carry with us. We don't use it as often now as we used to, but we still keep it with us for those times when we don't have access to a dump site from where we're parked, when parked for an extended period. I now have a macerator with 100 feet of hose so I don't use the "Blue Boy" if I'm within 100 feet of a sewer inlet.

We have a 30 (maybe 40 gal) version like the JCW. Brought it when we started out with our SOB TT. Only used it once so far. The side discharge is nice. It can get heavy at 8#/gal. Have heard (on another forum) of some people changing out the wheels to wider wheels to make it easier to pull through grass, dirt to get to the TV hitch. Two weekends ago we did a weekend in the Monty no problem on running out of capacity onboard even with both of us taking showers in the unit.

Thetford came out with a portable tank this year. I ran across it by accident a few weeks ago but can't find the link now. The Thetford tank has a bottom dump valve and hose which is built onto the tank. It looked really handy and hadthe tank was hose attached. If I find thelink I will post it.

We can go 18+ days on the black tank before dumping, so it is hard to justify losing the storage space that a blueboy would take up.
We found that a slide valve on the end of the dump tube allows us to equalize the grey and the galley tanks when one of them gets full. This gives us more time.

The CG I'm at for the summer does not have a lot of sewer sites, and I'm not on one. I don't use a "honey pot" either (I sure don't know why they're called that...LOL). I keep the grey valves open, and Mr. Johnson comes by in his big ole septic truck, and pumps me out for $10.00. I have this done every 2-3 weeks. I've seen many use the honey pots, but personally...no thanks...LOL

In the gang we camp with at Drummond Island, I have access to a 25 gallon 2 wheeler and one like the JCW unit referenced above. For my taste (opps, didn't mean that.) preference- there, that's better, I prefer the two wheel unit with a common input and exit port. They are about equal when it comes to moving as we use the rope around the truck hitch method. But cleanup is another story. The side discharge has a lot more nooks and crannies to trap stuff. It took me at least half again as much effort to clean it up.
One more thing to add to your supply list for these situations -- stop by Harbor Freight and by
a box of disposable nitrile gloves. The box will last a season or so. They are also useful for cleaning up the grill -- not the same ones--use a new pair.
