Cracks on door
I have a 2010 Montana. last year I developed horizontal cracks on the inside of my door. Does anyone know why this would happen? Any ideas how to fix it without replacing the door? Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
Any chance you can post a photo of said issue? It will also help if you would add the trailer info, ie year, model etc. Someone here has surely seen or dealt with almost any issue at 1 time or another, or they can point you in the right direction to find a solution for you.

I would ask lippert if you can get a new inside skin for your door. Should have numbers on the door edge that faces the hinge side. Can't imagine that they weren't the door supplier in 2010 as well.

I have a 2011 with the same issue with front door with vertical cracks. Have not figured out what could be done with them. Appear to be just the white cover skin of the door.

2011 3455sa. Had no cracks up until last year when the door blew shut very fast with a battery lantern sitting on the top step. The lantern was sandwiched between the door and the bottom sill, flexing the door and created a crack from the lower right corner of the window diagonally down towards the corner. I glued and riveted a piece of white aluminum trim coil metal over the crack. Worked fine and did not look to bad.
On our last trip the door blew shut hard again and created several more cracks. They all got the same fix.

Yea, I know that. LOL. I got lazy and did not want to go down the steps and unhook the door so I installed one of those magnetic door hold open devises so I can grab on to it without leaving the camper. Works great as long as you are not at the beach with pop up strong winds.

I have a 2018 Montana HC 381th, same problem with the inside door skin around the window cracking. Seems it just happened. It was fine when we left for a few hours, came back and it was cracked. The door was closed the time we were out. Puzzled has to why this happened and how to fix it.

On a 2010 it could be flexing because of that stupid switch that turns the light on when you open the door. On our 2010 I knew to lube it when the door got out of alignment a little and was hard to close.

I don’t have a switch on my door for the light and the hinges are the friction type for holding the door open.

We have a 2010 3000RK with the same problem with the horizontal cracks on the entry door. Maybe its the vibration of going down the road or the window cutout. Doesn't effect anything other than looks. Still, it should not happen.

Just yesterday I found those cracks inside our door and was beginning to consider how to repair. We’re currently on an extended trip so it won’t get properly repaired until we get back home. However, in the meantime I’m going to work a little white silicone caulk into the cracks to make them less noticeable. I guess we’ll see how that works out.
My long term plan is to attempt to reskin the door. Home Depot has some thin white plastic (not really sure what the material is, likely some kind of poly) sheet material that I may use. It shouldn’t be too difficult to take the door apart. I’ll just have to discover how well the current material is bonded to the rigid foam and take it from there.

I finally fixed my door inside skin. I bought a sheet of FRP Wall Board at hd, removed the door from the Rv took the latch and window out removed the trim from the door. With a putty knife I peeled the very thin skin from the foam. Used the pieces to make a template and cutout the wallboard. It was much thicker but I was able to put the door back together. All is fine now.

This is the 4x8 sheet FRP at Home Depot and Lowe’s. It will be toward the back of the store on the same row as wood trim and other wall panels in wide bins low to the floor. Watch some videos on handling and cutting this stuff - it’s very floppy plus it is fiberglass - so watch the splinters.
