Damage on spare tire
We just had one of our original Trailer King tires go flat. Luckily we were just a couple of miles from the house. I’m going to replace all five tires with Hankook ones now. When I slid the spare tire rail out, the tire has a pretty good dent in the side. I seem to remember years ago a thread that had suggestions for minimizing this but I’m having a hard time finding it. Does anyone remember the thread that can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I recall reading about that. I believe the fix was to place a piece of flat hard plastic or vinyl (siding) between the tire and the surface it is pressed against. This will prevent vibration/rubbing of the tire on the hard surface preventing the dents from forming.

Been there done that. The tire mount slide out thing was a bad design. The tire just rides on a 3/4" tube and tube rubbed right into the sidewall. Tire toast! I wrapped the tubes with split rubber hose.

Makes sense to spread the surface area out at the contact point as much as possible. When I remount the spare, I’ll look at it more closely and see what I can put in there.Thank you for the responses.

I did place pool noodles under my new sparetire. Issue solved.
