Slide bottom cover material shattered
Camping in Georgia we experienced 4°F with -10°F wind-chill for~48 hrs. I was underneath our bedroom slide checking a space heater in the basement/water cabinet area when I noticed the black plastic material that covers the plywood floor of the slide, was shattered (like glass) I presume from the cold. Has anyone else experienced this?

Go to the google search box at the top of this page and search this forum for "bedroom slide bottom" and read about the same problem from lots of folks here. As I read thru those past threads - the best solution IMHO is "went to Montana rally in Goshen and Keystone fixed it!"
It seems many people have tried many things. The most interesting solution to me was from ???? (daingit...forgot who posted this) who said he used contact cement and a plastic welder to put the pieces back into place. Plastic welders can be had for less than $50.
I would be curious to see what member ChuckS would suggest...let's hope he sees this thread...

Thanks
I read thru the list...liked the 1/8" lexan repair. However, if I can keep it together for the fall rally, I'll have keystone take a look. Fortunately, it's not directly inline with the rollers. Keeping the pieces together so they don't catch on the bottom when putting slide out, will be the challenge. Thanks for the quick reply.

I know this does not address your issue, this applies to the Darco under the main slides, but it might give you some ideas.
The vinyl welder mentioned by Mike above sounds pretty good too. I have a split farm sprayer tank I have sprayed on several layers of flex seal. I'm not sure that will work in this situation.
Darco repair by Chuck. This is one of the best repairs I've seen.

Mine frayed at the rollers on one slide. I spray painted the bare wood with black original Rust-o-lium (oil based spray paint), and it sealed the wood up pretty good. This borrowed some time until weather warms up and I can do something a little more permanent.
If nothing else, hit the split area with some paint and get the exposed wood covered with some paint. This will give you time to work on a more permanent fix.

Thanks for the tips. For now I was able to apply some tape. But it's already come off due to humidity. I'll try some etabond tape. Fortunately, it's not we're the rollers make contact. Biggest concern, that the tape holds while slide is retracted so the broken plastic doesn't snag the edge when extending. Hope it keeps until September.
