We just recently got the Morryde IS installed on our 3854 BR, that and the Morryde pin box and the ride home was so much better than the ride out there.

During the trip I have to replace 2 leaf springs on two separate occasions. The last shop that replaced a leaf said the leaves were looking flat and I should consider getting them replaced. One of my axles is offset to one side about 1 to 1 1/2 inches. I would like to put some after market shock absorbers on the trailer to dampen some of the jarring that happens to inside of the trailer and to help the springs. I do not drive fast. I don't drive more that 63 mph.
Does anyone have any suggests or expert advice.
Depending on how much you want to spend will determine your options. I am replacing my shackles with the more ryde upgraded shackle kit. Shock absorbers are mostly useless most of the time. Check out Sumo Springs. They have shock absorbing properties as well as adding more support to your suspension. They are progressive springs. Look them up on the web and see if this might fit your needs. You can find them on E-Trailer and Amazon, and some other places. I’m not ready for the expense of the independent suspension, so the shackle kit and Sumo Springs are my next best option.

Up graded shackle kit and Sumo Springs are the next best option IMO. The Sumo Springs are progressive springs and have shock absorber qualities. Look them up on line for specs. You can get them from E-Trailer, Amazon, and some other places. If you have the jacks, tools and inclination, you can do the install yourself. I’m to old now so I let the spring shop do the install. I have read many positive reviews and have a couple friends that have them and think they are great. Going on my 41’ 5er in a couple weeks.

So I broke a spring earlier this year.
They were only 2 years old.
I did not hesitate to replace all 4, Added a leaf as well,,

That said I will be dropping into Straight Line suspension in Mesa AZ next week.
I noticed that my RH side is wearing uneven. LH side is fine.
Straight line suspension specializes in trailer axel alignments.
I may also need to replace a axel .. we shall see.
The LRE4000 bushings we upgraded recently with the springs.

I have a 2007 Montana with the More ride LRE4000 Suspension system.

Cheers

Specific to the 3000RK. and not the 8K independent suspension.
Independent suspension seems to be the go to to correct many issues.

I have a 2007 3000RK Build date of December 2006.
The 2006 and early 2007's were built with a 5300 lb axel. Way underrated..
early 2007's models then came out with the 6K axels..
I was wondering at some point..if they were using up old inventory before going to the 6K... axles.. same rig.. same model..then they went to a 6000 lb axel providing the 14K GVW.

I have upgraded the springs and LRE4000 bushing to match the 7000 lb axels. overkill maybe. but I am pretty hard on the rig dirt roads and dry camping etc and have not been disappointed.
from 2006 to 2007 the Lippert frame basically stayed the same
from what I could get out of Keystone. Difficult to tell...

Cheers

I understand the difference in axel weight ratings. Over the last 15 years I have had to replace two. I'm not in need of axel or suspension upgrade. I'm just curious what the new Dexter Heavy Duty axel has that would cost $2k a piece. Hoping someone who was at the Rally could enlighten me.

take a look at joy rider shock system, I installed it on 2016 MHC 305rl, drove 500 miles with coffee maker on island counter, it never moved.

Jim,
The set of axles Dexter donated to the MOC silent auction included installation or shipping ( your choice) hub/bearings with electric brakes. Dexter claims that the heavy axles are made with a tub that is 50% thicker wall than the standard. Hope this explains the valuation.

Thank you GAinaMontana, it does. I was just having a hard time understanding $2k per axel from my $650 7K axel replacement of 3 years ago.

If the heavy duty axel was the only option I would agree.

The Dexter D75, 7500# axles that we donated to the MOC for their raffle have 12 1/4 x 2.50 brakes (compared to the 12x2 used on regular 7000# axles), the corresponding larger hubs that have an 8k rating and bearing package, 4k leaf springs with bronze bushings, and heavy wall tubing. The donation also included installation in Elkhart at our company headquarters, or free shipping to the installer of the winning bidders choice. The value given was a ballpark figure, and not an exact price.

Thanks for the clarification. It adds to what GAinaMontana had already provided.
