OK for the road hazard guessers. Here's a close-up of the area in question. You will notice what you think is a cut is actually the tread pattern with a chunk of the next rib gone, so for me that rules out a road hazard cut.
Just ordered a replacement through Walmart as they beat the Simple Tire price by a few dollars.

Good call on ordering from Walmart , that’s where I ordered my last set .

I would think a tire expert could rule out a road hazard , but for you ,and me to rule it out is just guessing on our part. So unless you are a tire expert you are just guessing . Here is what Sailun rep. had to say about mine . Tire defects usually show up quickly, not with thousands of miles on them , it’s usually road hazard . When they get heated up with a defect they come apart quickly .

It will be what it is.
I'll see how they continue to run, but if more start to come apart they'll all get replaced. They're darn heavy to remove from underneath the rig and even heavier getting up on the lug bolts.

I feel sorry for all those who have bought into the Sailun tire. I was optimistic when I fist saw the initial reprorts but seeing what I am seeing now about the Sialiun, I sticking with my G614s.

Many have been using Sailuns for, I think, over four years now with only a couple of reported failures. I'm still good with them but watching them carefully.

Oh don't feel sorry. What you need to feel sorry for is the ones drinking the koolaid with the Goodyear G614's . They have tore up more fifth wheels then Sailun ever will . Plus just the fact of paying twice as much for one ,and continue to have failures.

To have a couple tread separations, no damage to the fifth wheels ,and the sky is falling on Sailun. I think you need to rethink that statement .

I agree on that, it is what it is, but pretty hard to rule out anything. Need Sailun to take a look at it ,and see if they can determine what happened with it , instead of all the guess work .

As more Sailuns hit the roads its inevitable there will be more failures. I'm 100% positive there have been many other failures other than whats been reported here.

I know of two. One I saw with my own eyes with the owner telling me it was the second of his made in China Sailuns. Both were simply tread separation from the tire. They were two years old with around 10k miles. Of course, this was just a few months after I put them on our trailer.

Why more North American tire manufacturers don't make ST tires is mind boggling to me. They build the best auto tires that money can buy with very competitive prices. I have no doubt they could do the same in the ST tire world.

So far I am still confident with my Sailun tires. Do I watch them? You bet I do, I just don’t worry about them like I did with the cheap ass Trailer Kings. Hey believe it or not I have see lots of big truck tires fail too. Just goes to show that any tire can fail, be it rated for cars, trucks, trailers or big rigs. With the amount of Sailuns out on the road there are bound to be some defective ones. Look at all the Goodyear G 614 failures over the years. The main point is we want good tires and a company that stands behind their products. Goodyear has helped some blowout victims with their G 614 failures and we will see how Sailun handles any blowouts. Firestone was terrible back in the late 90’s early 2000’s.
Happy and safe roads to you.

FEDX delivered my replacement from Walmart this morning and I filled out a warranty form with Tredit requesting reimbursement. If I can get something it will be better than nothing. Just have to wait and see.

Contact nhtsa. I have already fillied a complaint so the more the better, that way if there’s a construction problem it can be investigated.

My 2 failures are currently in Canada being inspected by their engineers. I haven’t heard anything for several weeks now.

Im about to get 19.5 commercial wheels and tires when I get my unit back from getting the rhino roof installed.

Well, here's another one. Methinks something smells rotten in this Vietnamese factory. It will certainly make me think twice about buying another set of Sailuns if they only come from Vietnam in the future.

Yup, me personally with my experience with them I don’t trust them in the grand scheme of things I’m only 1 person out of 10’s of thousands…..

At least the structure of the tire stayed together, sure looks as if that tire had ran over an object and started the tread deamination.

Looks like some strange inner tire wear considering the little s shape in the shoulder treads is missing on one side. The tire definitely failed but perhaps it’s more than just tire failure that caused the tread to separate.

Wow, thats quick, Goodyear and Sailun are good for 7 years. They age out before you ever can put enough miles on them.

So out of several 10's of thousands sets of Sailuns the 5 failures reported here make up your mind and one of them at least is clearly pot hole caused but still held air. I asked my tire shop about them and he told me he has a customer with a fleet of 2 to 3 thousand vehicles all with Sailun. NO problems. Remember one poster here posted 5 times in different places, I wonder who he is employed by?
