Agreed, but I would think the demographic that currently buys Montanas have an overwheming group that has spindles upon spindles of movies. So getting rid of it is a bit premature

If that is the case I would say it’s time to learn about ripping DVD’s. The space and weight savings alone would be worth the learning curve and software.

Only if they are like some of us that carry laptops. Not everyone does. Some may even wear tinfoil hats.

but costs will keep even cassette tapes alive,
heck i even have a 8 track stereo with record.
no tapes, has not been used in well over a decade.
but it is a very old unit, cabinet is made of wood, yes real wood. bought it at montgomery wards. at least 40 years back.
and the radio can pick up broadcasts better than a new computer stereo can, and thats with the cheap magnet antenna on the back of it. but the pot sound adj bar is having trouble.
so old does not always say bad.

Agree once the internet is available everywhere. Still a lot of this country and Canada with no cell or internet capability. Satellite capability is extremely limited once you cross the border going north. Even no Sirius once you get north of southern AK.

Don't know the model off the top of my head. Only problem I've had is not being able to agree to conditions when required by internet providers offering internet. With no browser you can't click on agree.

Still have the OEM Samsung that came with the unit new. We use it infrequently, but do like haveing it as an option. Mostuly use Sat TV-Dish and Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming movies and binge watching several TV series we enjoy.

Resurrecting this thread, as I think it is time for a new poll; I believe the polling on this is more than 2 years old so much may have changed.
Also, I think I heard at the virtual rally that if the DVD player were deleted it might be possible to move to a better quality sound system, such as from JBL.
If it's possible to start a new poll and confirm that a DVD delete would allow an audio quality upgrade, I think it would gather new responses.
Thanks!
Brad

i do not know much about audio “quality”.
but i do know most out there would not know much better than that. and no car, truck, rv, etc is made to be a sound room. so any “better” is just lost money.
i just bought a new pu and it has no cd player. nore a connection for one.
i am not a music nut, but i do have (to me at least) a lot of cds. do not tune in many radio stations, can not stand the yapping heads, or the adds for stuff i do not want.
and for some reason crab apple refuse to allow me to down load any of my music to this phone. so can not even do a radio connection that way.
as to a poll. i vote nice white sound to help mute out the constant screeching in my ears.

This s my usual 'go-to' place when I need an upgrade stereo/DVD, etc. Lots of good information even if you buy it elsewhere: https://www.crutchfield.com/
AMAZON not so much relevant info but may be a place to buy though a JVC that I bought for a past car was a bunch cheaper elsewhere.

We have a blue ray player that plays DVD , CD.
Now everything is going 4K or streaming online.

Might consider putting nothing in and let folks do it later - kind of like a house.
Streaming is a non starter for many of the places we camp with no cell or WIFI. If it doesn't come off the satellite or a DVD we can't see it.

Elimination of the DVD/CD player would be fine by us. They are cheap, won't play BluRay (of which I own many) and if that results in the "oh so cheap" amp/receiver/speakers we would go for that. I install an outboard BluRay/CD player in every trailer we buy and replace all the speakers. Can't find a decent receiver that fits without serious cabinet modifications so leave them. Replaced the Furrion TV in this one right off the bat for a more quality unit.

Grandkids "need" the DVD player when we're in a location with no cell service.

DVD player not a must have, but preferred. Don't watch movies very often traveling, but we do have a number of them in the trailer for those bad weather days. But definitely a blu ray DVD player.

I've had two LG Blu ray players bite the dust. Have them sitting next to the el-cheapo sound system at the back of our 5r on top of the Wally. I think all the bouncing around they get during travel does them in. I may lock the one we have now down so it doesn't hop around. It's a $62 model that plays DVD, CD & BluR.

I've ripped every CD I own onto DWs IPod and my Nano. As for movies, we take a small collection of select movies when we travel in case there is no line of sight for the Dish.

I've left the OEM Furrion cheapo system installed and still use it for radio, CD's/bluetooth streaming, and playing on exterior speakers (not too often). I now have a bluetooth player and soundbar installed that we use for movie watching.
I'm still investigating the best kinds of plans for streaming Netflix, etc. Of course there's the occasional access for TV via the weak digital antenna which can sometimes bring in the same channels that most parks seem to have when they offer cable connect.
