Leveling jacks
Anyone have problems with leveling jacks leaking fluid? I have one of the 6 leaking, not a lot but still the same. Tips on troubleshooting please

If it’s leaking and you want to try and wait it out, be careful because when it goes it’s gone no matter if it’s up are down! I had to tied two of them up while traveling. They can not be repaired you must replace ! This is what the factory is telling people. I had a 2018 3950 BR it happened to me. The other thing I found out is if you park with them down for a extended time you need to retract them every 2 weeks are sooner.

If any of my six jacks are extended for more than a couple days or caught in an environment that could render the piston dirty, I always wipe them down prior to retracting. I try to keep debris from damaging the seal at the end of the cylinder. I noticed how dirty the rams get after a rain storm while parked on a dirt site.

Hey how about some some actual experience from the group. I have never heard of this before, retract every two weeks? I have seen something about wiping the jacks with silicon every two weeks but that's about it.

I thought the latest info was to wipe the legs with your hydraulic fluid...which was a relatively new recommendation as it was previously recommended to use silicone.
I don’t recall discussion of the need to “exercise” the system every few weeks...maybe I missed it.

I had one that leaked on my 3160, I did the replacement but Lippert sent it to me for free because the technician deemed it customer satisfaction. Pretty good company to deal with. It was interesting that it appears that the middle jack on the door side is the one most replaced according to the technician that I talked to. That is the one that I replaced. Bit of a chore to do and if you are on concrete you might want to put plastic down before doing the replacement. Good luck.

Our 2015 has sat four 5 month snowbird seasons without issue. Watched many snowbirds hook up and depart without any issues. I do periodically wipe down with silicon

You don't have to extend your legs once they are down. It is a waste of time to do that but some people think that is necessary. (call lippert)
if you have a leak you need to, at some point, figure out where it is and get it fixed. If under warranty get it fixed now.

I usually clean with WD40 and then wipe down with PTFE Dry Lube instead of silicone. The dry lube doesn't get as tacky and cause stuff to stick to the ram.

Both of our middle levelers are leaking at the line connections. They have been tightened, but are leaking again. Any idea's?

Never use any oil based lubricants especially WD40 while they look clean right after applying these products will allow dirt to adhere to the shafts (like a dirt magnet). That is why Silicone products are used,

Advise You Lubricate with Silicone
Whenever my jacks are down for extended times, and periodically, I spray them with silicone and wipe them down especially around the top at the O-ring. I had a small leak on the front left jack, losing about a teaspoon a week while snowbirding for 3 months. I was told by a retired farmer that the O-ring might be dirty and crimped, and a retired jet aircraft mechanic advised me about the silicone. I gave them a good spray and wipedown before retracting, and then repeated about every 2 weeks while traveling. The O-ring must have reseated itself (yay!) because the leak stopped. I have followed this procedure ever since.

I hate that when that happens!
Seriously - I am questioning my own sanity because I remember (thought I remembered????) a thread a few months ago where somebody produced a screen shot from the Lippert manual that said “wipe down with transmission oil” and that they had recently changed their recommendation from using silicone to tranny fluid (or hydraulic fluid). I was so very certain that I went and read the manual directly from the website!!! I can settle this once and for all! thought I was loosing my memory but now I can’t remember. I hate that when that happens.
