High Country Floor..Soft Spot
Hi Folks. Can anyone help me with ideas to fix a soft spot in my 2015 High Country. I have not found much on YouTube that seems to fit this. The spot is in a high traffic area, about 2 square feet. It makes a crunching sound when we (accidentially) step on it, which, to me doesn't seem like a water leak, which might be more punkish. Just seems like a material breakdown. I will peel back the linoleum to check it out, but wondering what to expect, as well as ant thoughts on a proper fix.

On one of our Montana we had a soft spot. When the factory removed the linoleum they found two of the bolts that hold the floor down were loose. They tighten them down and no more soft spot. They look like a washer with a bolt welded to them. They had to drop the bottom to tighten the bolts.

If your HC is like mine the floor is a sandwich with two sheets of plywood with 2 inches of styrofoam between. A regular Montana has a sheet of plywood for the floor.

The first thing you haft to do is find out what the problem is. Is it the plywood or the styrofoam and what happened to it. It can’t be fixed with the flooring on it so you haft to get the flooring off.
If it’s the plywood set your saw for a 1/2 inch and cut out the bad place and replace it. If it’s the styrofoam set your saw to cut through the top layer of plywood and almost through the styrofoam. Take that out then cut a larger hole in the plywood. Then replace both to fit.
Of course this is if you have the sandwich floor like mine. My camper is a 2011 model. I don’t know about the newer ones.

We had the same problem, soft spot and a squeak, just inside the exit door. We attended the rally in 2017 and showed the techs. Keystone customer service replaced the floor just after the rally, not a problem since. It took 2 months to complete the job.

Our original warranty was expired and we didn’t need the extended warranty. Keystone customer service did the floor replacement for free along with replacement of the rear air conditioner unit because of a persistent leak. I believe this was a benefit of attending the rally and discussing it with the techs. You can try to call Keystone customer service.
