Light Bulbs in Montana
When working on the rig this weekend, I noticed that some of the LED bulbs in the ceiling had either gone out or were flickering. It has the 194 wedge LEDs and currently has the round ones in it. I'm wondering which is better as far as brightness, the round LEDs or the unidirectional flat ones?

Search here for the best bulbs. Unidirectional flat ones make sense since all the light is directed down towards the room.

I will probably get some from M4. Now I just need to get back to the rig and do an inventory of how many and which type to order.

And there is also the question of lumens to get for the new led as well as color temperature. I personally find that 4000 degree kelvin to be the best for most things. Some manufacturers call this temperature warm white and some natural sun light. If the led doesn't list lumens and color temp...walk away. A lot of what I see are 6500k, cold blue light, or 3000 to 3200k, whish is the orange tinted yellow light produced by those old fashioned filament bulbs.190 lumens is good for accent lighting, but for task lighting over a kitchen countertop or for certain areas where you need really good lighting I would go for around 420 lumens. Hope this helps.

true. I'm looking at the M4 LEDs. They have one wedge style that puts out the same as OEM incandescent and another that is about 1.5x brighter. They have dual polarity and are made to accept between 10-30 volts.
I'll probably go with either or both of these in the natural white spectrum (4500K)

They are more expensive that others I've looked at, but think I'll be happier with them in the long run.
