Anderson Hitch
I have been researching 5th wheel hitches that are lighter than my Husky and came across the Anderson. It almost looks to good to be true. Anyone out there using it or has used it? I would like honest feedback before purchasing.

Aaaaahhhhhhh
You are about to start a debate equal to what`s the best truck or what`s the best oil, some hate will come forth some will praise it and when some one posts the picture of the ONE that broke years ago from the guy using it incorrectly it will be time just to close the thread.
But I have one and will never go back to the expensive flat plate boat anchor method that was developed back in 1913. I mean some things just have to change cause it`s just to easy if nothing else.

I looked at all the options when my trailer was on-order. B&W 20k, Anderson, and the 20k Goosebox. I ran the 16k Goosebox on my previous trailer for 4 years. It was nice to use the gooseneck ball and have a free bed. The issue I had was getting enough lift in some situations to raise the coupler above the ball and then get the trailer to level after you ran out of jack. This was on an electric front jack. The majority of the time I camp in off-level areas. This was a consideration. The Anderson is the same concept but up higher up off the bed. You still have to raise the trailer 3-4 inches after the weight is off the truck to clear the ball. I also didn't like the Anderson coupler that clamps to the pinbox if you run their coupler reversed for a long bed. My brother has the Anderson and had to modify it to use the Ford pucks to keep it from spinning around in the bed.
After all that, I went with the B&W. It breaks in half for removal with almost equal weight on each half. I'm young so it's not that hard to remove.

I bought the Anderson goose ball model six months ago and I like it. Easy to handle and built very well.

I have one for a little over a year now. In short I love it. Easy to hookup, easy to disconnect, easy to remove from the bed. The wife can carry it if needed. I am comparitively heavier than average on my pin weight and no chucking. The improvement from my Reese Pro was night and day. I know a lot of folks have issues with one thing or another and I will leave that up to them. I will say I have done my research including legal and I am not only an informed consumer but also a happy one with regard to selecting the Andersen.

You’ve already got s very good hitch.. I’ve been using a Husky for 5 years..no issues...I’m not going to trust my fifth wheel etc to an Anderson hitch. If I need the bed free of the hitch it takes 4 pins to be removed and a bit of muscle or use the fifth wheel and lift it out. Others seem to like the Anderson..
I’ve seen several pics in the last year showing a buckled failed Anderson hitch, damage to tow vehicle and damage to fifth wheel... not my cup of tea..

And here we go...After checking with attorneys and educating myself on the congressional Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act I acomfortable in relaying exactly what two different attorneys told me regarding "product manager" statement. Frankly that person is misinformed. In addition the fact that Anderson will put up an additional supplementary warranty for just such scenarios is corroborating enough for me.

Before you make your decision on an Anderson, give Lippert (LCI) a call as they ultimately are the warrantors of the frame. I have seen yea and nay on forums though don't have first hand knowledge as I am very happy with the 20K B&W that I find easy to install and remove by myself (and I'm NOT young except in mind)

I did they only have an issue with goose neck extensions that have proven to increase the leverage effect on a pin box that is NOT designed like a horse trailer frame and connection.
Looking closely at this picture of the new hitch on an Open Range that is approved by Lippert and even has a LCI sticker on it I can`t imagine a disapproval of the Andersen. It`s called an King Combo Pin Box. So what`s next.... the hitch Fairy told me.......

Then it sounds like it's a real decision time. Just do the rest of your due diligence research and look at other RV forums for hitch pluses or minuses. There are lovers and haters regardless of brand name. I'm personally not sold on lighter is better, and built like a bridge truss, but I am somewhat an old schooler ....

What kept countries and cities in the Southern Hemisphere from falling off the globe before gravity was discovered circa 1300?
