Scare light
Anyone added a scare light. Have you wired it back to the main switch panel? May be more of a project than I really want.
Thanks y’all.

Doesn't your unit have two scare lights already? I thought all Montana's have them or are you wanting to put an extra one on the unit?

Motion activated Scare light?
Do you mean a motion activated scare light? I have noticed more and more of those on motorhomes and some fifth wheels as I walk the dogs after dark and those things go off. No idea if they are added accessories or OEM items.

Your HC should have a 'scare light' on each side - our 343RL has both and now have high intensity LED bulbs installed. If you are thinking of adding a motion sensing light, wiring it back to the switch wont do you much good - unless you leave the installed one on every night. It may be almost impossible to pull wires as well.

You may get more benefit from installing LED light bars. They are brighter than the scare lights and if you use remote controls easier to wire. One under the hitch and maybe a couple on your awnings and one on the rear (which could also function as a backup light) should very effectively light up your world!

It does not have any scare lights installed. It's a High Country 331RL.

Don't you have a scare light on the curb side I just looked at one on line and it has a scare light on the curb side but not on street side! It would be hard to wire one now that it is all put together but there is always a way.

No. It doesn’t. I thought it did also. I was wrong.

Our new HC 362RD only has one on the curb side. All our other SOB’s had one on each side. I’d rather have one on the drivers side for hooking up at night. But that is just me I guess.

Must be a High Country thing. Both our 2010 and our 2017 Montanas had scare lights on both sides.

my scare light flashes at .357 cal.
never used any such at camp. dark is best there.
but at home the front yard is very well lit up with motion lights.
would love to use the back yard but a LOT of dirt and rock would have to be dug out.
anybody intersted in helping me dig? ( said little chicken style).
the back yard is bigger than the front yard and house together.
might look into such on the new rv?

Our '14 has one on each side as did our last two SOBs, but with that said, later ones may have been 'cost improved', or worse, some may have just been forgotten.
My fix would be to mount a low down light along the exposed frame using a bulb or receptacle reflector that has a wide beam angle. You can find power near the battery on a power distribution strip then can relatively easily snake a switch wire up and through the wall - probably the bathroom wall as it's hollow and either tie into the existing switch or add one. You cannot snake a wire up the outside wall as it is a fully foam filled paneling and outside filon filled 'sandwich'. If you do this, make sure that there is a fuse somewhere in tha wiring

Yes, I have added 2 scare lights to the rear of our unit, for use as back up lights. I also connected them to the existing scare light switch. Now all 3 scare lights come on when backing up, or when using the switch inside the unit. It was a job, I did this the same time I was running an extension cable for a Garmin back up camera. Not sure if I will go through the trouble next time. Here is a link:

I bought this last fall. It made it through the winter and still works great for around $20 bucks!
