Dish Network Set Up - Find SAT
After a 2 year absence, I tried to set up my "Pay as you go" Dish Network account. After 2 days of talking to tech help, I could not obtain a signal. I talked to Winegard for help and they suggested I put a SAT finder app on my phone. After 15 minutes, I relocated the dish antenna and found it! Take away - All the Dish instructions say, "Make sure you have an unobstructed view of the southern sky". I did. After I found the SAT, it was nearly directly due west! This app was indispensable. "Satfinder". The earth map showed the exact spot where I was standing. I had a tree in the way. I moved the dish 15 feet north on the camper roof to bypass the tree as seen on the map and lo and behold a good signal!

The SatFinder is a great app. I’m sure there are several more like it. I’ve used one for several years.

I too use the phone app to locate the satellite. Very helpful. A couple of times I had to shoot thru a couple of trees, so with the app I was able to put the dish in exactly the right spot.

Dish satellite finder app
I use the DishForMyRV app. I think it was $10 a couple of years ago. It has been a big help in setting up my tailgater.

We have a Traveler mounted to the roof. Puts the button and it does the rest. I might get the app just to help with RV setup location. That could save me from having to relocate our unit. I have been able to get reception even near trees etc, but a few times I got nothing.

I have thought about getting a satellite, but it works for me to just stream from my ipad or phone with the sling from Dish.

I use one called Dish Align. It gives you a satellite view of your location and once you select which satellite your particular unit uses, points to it. It is a great tool to prevent those dreaded obstacles.

Hi
We just put the King where it has a clear view of the SW sky and plug it in. Then go pop the top on a hard cider.

When I had the traveler and got nothing, that's when I used the app to see if the problem had a solution.

I use the Winegard sat finder app, works great.
Tried a couple others, junk compared to the Winegard.
