computer printer
I wasn't sure where to post this, but it seemed like this thread was the most logical. DW and I are starting to travel longer and longer in the Monty and while I always take my laptop I am finding that I more frequently wish I had a printer along. I am partial to HP but I would like a recommendation on a reasonably priced printer to use to print out travel plans, email receipts for campsites, etc. TIA.

I had HP printers for my shop. I switched to Epson. Now instead of buying ink cartridges for $$$ I buy Epson bottles of ink for $13 each. Each bottle will do 4500 sheets. The cheapest printer is under $300 and pays for itself in ink. Just don’t turn it upside down.

I like these small mobile printers; I have a couple of them. One is an HP the other is a Canon IP90 (my favorite). Both print as good as a full size. They are small enough to store in a drawer. Even after storing for more than a year, mine still prints fine.
Check the price of ink cartridges when making your decision.
Here are a couple of examples.

Wouldn't be without our printer, but then again we're in the Rig for approx 9 months of the year.

We had 2 HP's but they didn't seem to be able to handle the ruff roads and or the dry western climate. Have had an Epson for the last 2 years and it's still hanging in.

HP Printer
We use a small HP combination printer scanner fax. I prefer the wireless model and the cost of ink is not a big issue as I do not print that much, just occasionally.

I saw a sale at Walmart and got an HP 1010 for $30. Works fine, but as others point out the ink costs more than the printer!!!

We are running with an HP 6830 printer, no problems, and we can do any kind of printing, scanning, or anything else. It works just fine, rough roads and all, and the ink isn't terribly expensive compared to the cheaper printers.

Our Epson WF3640 just died after 6 years. Good printer but big. Replaced it with an HP 2656. Not fancy but small, functional and CHEAP! $49 at Wally World, ink runs $25 for standard size cartridges.

We travel about 4 months a year with a Canon Printer that I use at home. It can take a beating and keep on printing. Since I do a lot of photo printing, I stick with Canon ink and Canon Paper--forget about saving a few pennies--not worth it to have photos turn out yellowish or greenish due to mismatched ink colors and computer software. Printer is about $100.

We have 2 printers here in the shop with a 3 square foot cork board the guys staple picture on. Sometimes we use the shop printer sometimes we use our Epson picture printer. With the shop printer the pictures are faded in a few years with the picture printer they are still fresh as new for 20 years. The 2 printers use different type of ink, die based and pigment based. One will last 200 years the other a few years. So if you plan on keeping your pictures make sure the printer is a picture printer.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 6968. It is wireless. Fits perfect in the cabinet above the TV. I use HPs ink program. Ink shows up in the mail before I need it.

I always bring our HP 4650 on trips "just in case." Actually need it during last 3 trips. Use HP Instant Ink. Had them send replacement cartridges proir to last trip...prior to them "automatically" sending replacements. Good thing since we needed to replace black cartridge this trip.

I am in IT and do it for a living but Epson makes a Color Scanner, Copier, Printer look st the Epson 410 you can get the cartridges all 4 of them for about $8.00 a piece either thru Staples or Amazon runs deals, last time I bought a set at BJ’s Wholesale for $39.99 for the high capacity cartridges. Had the printer for 5 years works great.
Side not if it sits u used for a while, run a Tools Setting and just clean the heads prevents colors from glitching up or fading.

We have an HP all in one printer we carry in the Monte. We don't use it much but when we need one it is there. It rides really well in the drawer under the sofa sleeper and it is wireless but we normally just plug it in and print that way. We have needed it several time to make copies also and it does an excellent job for us.
