A couple we know is planning on cutting their king bed down to a queen. We love the size of our bed! Our ten pound cat can take a lot of space in the bed, so it's nice to have the extra room. Our new mattress is being delivered Wednesday. Can't wait to try it out!

Our Brentwood mattress arrived yesterday, one day early. We love it! We found it to be very comfortable.

I bought my 8" Cool Max memory foam Mattress from Mattress Insider several years ago and am very happy with it. It was custom made because I wanted it a couple of inches wider than a standard king and with radius corners.

We took a king size that we had when we went to adjustable frames in our house and put it in the Montana. Exact fit width wise but hung over the end a little, but so did the factory junk matress. Now it's just like home.

Do you have storage underneath your bed? My friends replaced their RV mattress with a residential mattress and are very happy with it. A couple of days later they realized that because of the weight it now takes both of them to lift and hold it open to access the storage under neath the bed. One of them can no longer do it because it will slam closed if they let it go. This might not be a big deal for younger couples but can be a very dangerous situation for older ones.
That's why I went with an "RV" mattress from Mattress insider. I can access my storage by my self with no problem and it stays open. It takes some effort to over come the hold open struts to get it to close. I don't have to worry about it coming down on me...Plus it is a very comfortable and thick mattress.

The Brentwood we bought is somewhat heavier than the one that was there, and I can still lift it, but the struts will not hold it up, so I prop it up with something when I want it open.
By the way, we still love the mattress. It's better than what we have at home.

Replace the struts with larger ones that will hold the weight of the mattress. I had to do that with mine and it was an easy job.

I don't know how fast it comes down but for safety I would replace the struts with ones that can hold it open. If what ever you use to prop it open some how slips or get knocked away while you are in there looking for something it could come down on you. I don't heal or bounce as well as I use to when I was younger..

I haven't had an issue yet but I have a prop rod handy if needed.
