Would you buy Montana again?
Hello everyone!
Last year I bought a Foretravel motorhome, sold it this year! Did I lose my tail...sold it for 10 grand more than I paid but yes I lost my shirt, but I did regained my sanity and I sleep much better. Anyway, I am looking at 5th wheels....slowly,... taking my time, research research research. As I see Montana is top selling 5th wheel I wanted to ask the forums opinion. So cutting to the chase...would you buy a Montana again if given the opportunity? Are you pleased, what would you look at as a alternative? Thank you in advance for any and all replies...I am, just like all of you, trying to be sure I make a good choice. Thanks everyone! Travel safe!

We are on our second Montana. Did a lot of research be fore buying this one, a 3160RL, for the money I think they are the best choice. You'll have to spend a lot more for a better one.

Yes
We have only owned a Montana since January 2017. We are very happy so far with our 5th wheel (3811MS). Third brand we have owned in 8 years - best quality so far.
I think a lot depends upon what type of floor plan you are looking. We were high on a Cedar Creek model until we found the 3811 floor plan.

We've owned a Challenger, Alpine, and now a Montana 3160RL. We absolutely love it! It's a great floor plan. Yes, there are small issues but we've been able to deal with them and then keep moving down the road. We're not full timers, but we do spend several months a year in our fiver and we're very happy with it. It's all about the floor plan. There are so many makes/models out there, you just have to find the one that suits your needs best.

Welcome to the forum Dave. Yes, I would buy another Montana but this one is treating me so good there is no reason to do so at this time.
When you are looking at dealerships one of the most important things is their service department because after you give up your cash you are not dealing with sales who will tell you anything you to hear. The heart of a dealership is their service department not sales.

This is our second Montana. We purchase based on what we need ( floorplan) and price. We would purchase any brand in the price range if it met our needs. It has been Montana twice. Guess you could say best bang for the buck.

Not a chance of buying another Montana. Many small defects that you fix yourself and other small things that you learn to live with. The back wall was coming loose from the side walls and also all along the bottom. We had to pay to have that repaired as the trailer was a 2015. What finally made us sell the trailer was when we started to experience the same problem as listed on this forum "Unhappy Montana owner right now!"
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=69100
We started to think, what else is going to happen to this piece of ____?
Our dealer's service was great in helping us out as much as they could and would buy from them again but not a Montana.

Dave,
All RVs have issues and customer service across the board is lacking. A lot of your satisfaction will be driven by the dealer you use. Have had several brands and am happy with Montana - initial quality has been very good.

Super pleased with our 2017 3721.
Before this one we had four others that were very good as well. We keep being repeat customers because with Montana you get the most for your buck.
Expect a few problems for sure as with any brand and search out dealer that backs their sales department with excellent service.

Know matter what you buy, get an extended warranty. I believe Montana is just as good as any other 5th wheel in it's price range. Mine is a 2014 and i would buy again if i were in the same price range but i would probably upgrade to a DRV. The Montana is the most popular 5th wheel on the market so i would suspect the resale would be a little better on account more people know more about these than any other.I would like to think you get what you pay for in an rv but that is not the case no matter what you buy. Good-Luck.

Ask me that question with our three earlier Montana fivers, and the answer is a resounding yes. Three great units, great keystone support. As me about our 2015, not so great in comparison. Cheapened out, not holding up as well. Answer is probably no. We generally swap out every 3-5 years and currently looking at SOBs.

I would...and as with any other brand I would be sure to do my due diligence and research. I would recommend that you take a look at the forums for competing products. It will give you a good idea at just how common many of the issues are that these coaches experience. Your dealer can make a huge difference in how these issues get handled. For equal dollars the Montana product offers a great deal of value in my opinion. No matter what you buy you should not have the expectation that you will not have any issues.

NO, too many problems, Dealer in Houston has too be worse ever. I worked in instrumentation and electronics over 40 years, I feel it was in preparation to fix our montana. Trailer now 3 yrs old and $1500.00 + "leather" furniture is peeling. Note, no smokers, no pets, no children, an kept under cover. There is no such thing as customer service.

Well, those comments will surely speed up the sale of your two rigs.
BTW, what are you asking for each of your bad quality trailers?

There are disappointments posted at any brands websites. Personally, after 3 new Montana's since 2000 ... I honestly believe it's time to take the blinders off and look hard at other brands. My supporting thoughts on that decision are "if you don't try something different ... you'll always wonder" and the Montana line has changed enough to start wondering. We are RV show "groupies" ... hit as many as time allows. We're beginning to not see a nickel's worth of difference in my steadfast Montana brand and others. The legendary Montana customer service has slipped some and is being equaled by some of its competitors. So ... that's my view to your question.
