Hail Damage
Had some hail damage two weeks ago in Arlington. Got hit again Wednesday while in storage. Don't know what this is? Can you just replace the broken cover?

that is a attic vent, one in front one in back. You can replace just the cap, but you have to buy the entire vent assembly.

As Mike said, you can just replace the cap portion, but the assembly is sold as a complete unit. You can search for mushroom attic vent to source the suppliers. I had one crack on a previous rig and just replaced the cap portion so I would not have to worry about total replacement which includes caulking.

Thanks for the quick replies. Didn't know we had an attic. Would like to avoid replacing entire assembly so will take your advice. Thanks again.

Good to know about replacing just the cap. Looking at the pic above, does the cap just screw off?
As I mentioned a couple days ago about being on the roof and noticing mine were looking chalky and brittle. Will go ahead and replace just the cap if it that easy.

Yes, there is a threaded rod through the center that the cap just screws onto, takes just a few seconds to replace.

OK, I thought this was going to be easy. But googling Keystone mushroom attic vent, I got several hits on it, with varying part numbers, slightly different dimensions given, and no listings from the "usual" RV parts suppliers I am familiar with or bought from before. Any one have a source for the vents they know will fit?

Here is one of the caps. http://www.hannarv.com/P/KeystoneMus...te102776/21596
I wrapped mine with the aluminum tape so the sun won't eat it up. The tape is the same as used to tape the joints on heat and air ducts without the print. You can get it at Lowe's.

Wonder if one might want to carry a spare as it doesn't take many years for them to get brittle?

Probably not a bad idea. I did not realize how brittle mine were getting until I started brushing away dust to inspect the caulking and noticed the edges of the mushroom cap chipping off when the brush bristles rubbed against them.

My rig is 10 years old and these vents have both been replaced twice. There is one in the front and one in the back of the roof. Last time was this winter. My rig is outside in Texas sun--expect no more than 5 years service. Hail will shorten that! I did the entire vent with a reseal of the edges.
