Pivot door in bathroom
Those of you who have converted your pivot bathroom door to a regular hinge door, which way did you swing it - in or out?

I guess it would depend on which model you have. Most bathroom doors in rv's swing out on account of lack of space inside but do what gives you the most room.

There are several models with pivot doors. The guys that have converted one of those to a swinging door is who I am interested in hearing from.

I had chronic problems with my pivot door and was ready to take it apart and convert it. Wouldn’t close all the way, hinges seemed to seiz up, door would hit the door frame. Just to humble the wife, I sprayed the hinges with silicone spray...it worked and to this day, not a single problem. It swings effortless and the wife still reminds me. Love that woman!

When I did mine I turned the door around so the strike is next to the shower. It swings into the bath. Also installed a magnetic door stop on the floor next to the toilet. Cost me $12 for parts at Home Depot. I think if you search DQDick he has a thread with pics.

Yes, there are several different models with them. But there is also several different sizes and layouts of bathrooms in them. With that said, there is no right answer to your question, so do what makes you happy!

We have a 3721 model and 6 months after ownership converted the bath door to swing in up against the toilet.

I was unaware there are problems with the pivot door., I have had no issues with mine. I assume it is a preference thing? Our bathroom is very functional but compact. If it were available, I'd go with a pocket door, but otherwise like the pivot.

Liking the pivot door is model specific. If you have a 3720 for instance the pivot door will keep you from accessing the bath or bedroom with the slide in. Because of that we made the dealer change ours to a standard door swinging into the bathroom, so we could access the bathroom when on the road or sleep in the bedroom in a Walmart parking lot.

Pivot door in bathroom
Wife and I got tired of the pivot door taking up room, so we converted to a sliding barn style door. Much nicer and doesn’t interfere with bathroom space (agreed too small) on our 3820 FK

Pivot bathroom door fix
P
The pivot bath door is a great idea if it works properly, mine did not. My fix was to remove the bolt from lower bracket, then remove trolly. Once removed I dropped a carriage bolt through the top of trolly, then two nuts, jam nut and lower nut on lower bracket. I did need to replace the trolly slide mounting screws with flat head screws that the carriage bolt head would clear. this fox works perfectly and had no more problems,

Thanks Terbear. My bottom bolt slipped out of top trolley, screwed it back in twice thinking it was fixed both times. Third time I find that that trolley threads are stripped. I had thought of getting a bigger bolt and try to tap in new threads by screwing in the bigger bolt. I doubted myself b/c I’m thinking the carriage is a soft metal and may strip again. Your fix sounds like a good idea and I am going to try your fix.
UPDATE: Just back from hardware store. It works great! I used locking washers on top/bottom w/the nuts, the mounting screws do not interfere with carriage bolt head so I did not need to change those out.
