Replacing king mattress with 8 inch foam
How do you get a king mattress into the trailer and then into the bedroom? I have a 3791RD with front bedroom. Has anyone had issues getting it in?

Had an RV King with radius corners at the foot end that came in our rig. We suffered with it for several years, until we had a custom one, same size but made out of latex foam, and it is 8" thick. It is also upholstered on both sides, so occasionally we flip it. We have to bring it down into the living room to turn it, and then back up to the bedroom. At least the mattresses are flexible, so it can be done.

The aftermarket RV foam mattresses I have seen ship folded and compressed in a comparitively small box. So getting that into the RV and opening should not be an issue. I believe they take several hours to 24 hours to fully expand. I am not sure if you can manually fold up the old one to get it compressed but it shouldn't be too hard to manuever it out with a fold.

I have the 3791RD. My wife and I swapped out the original with a King Temperpedic mattress. It was very easy. The old mattress came out and the new on went in with no problem. We carried the old one down the stairs into the kitchen then folded it out the door. The new mattress went in the same way. Go up the stairs and angle into the kitchen. Then a straight shot into the bedroom. Once in the bedroom we angled it towards the bed frame and laid it down. The whole operation took less than five minutes. It is a great replacement. Due to the heavier bed I had to change the gas compression springs from 80 pounds to 120 pounds. That cost about $34 and took ten minutes. If you have any questions PM me and I will call you about it. Good luck and enjoy.

I like the idea of the 120lb gas spring can you post name, model and where you got them? We have replaced our mattress to. Wife has been very good at holding the bed up while I'm retrieving things but that is getting old.

I replaced the stock queen mattress in ours with a 10" foam one from Tuft & Neddle. No problem getting the old one out (they bend around corners). As mentioned the foam one comes in a box you just cut open in the bedroom and it expands to its correct size. The bed lift struts work just fine with the new one.

Do you like the Tuft & Neddle mattress. We are looking for a new one for our camper? What size bed do you have? And what did you get? Thanks.

The mattress if great. Ours is a queen. Don't know off hand if there are different ones available from them or not. I bought it online.

How did you get a Tuft and Needle mattress to fit? Do they offer custom special orders for RV sizes? Our "King" is 72X80 which is 4 inches narrower than a standard king.

That is what I was going to ask. I know ours is the same size, they say a RV king. The mattress we have is not very nice. We need something nicer, especially for when we go full time.

We have a normal queen 60x80. A king 76x80 would fit but there would not be enough room on the closet side. The queen overhangs the wood platform a few inches on each side. A king would overhang more. I have read that some people have made new larger platforms to accommodate the kings. If you have 76" of width, the regular king should work.

I have the 3790Rd and had a full size house king in there. It can be done, needs a little work but it can be done. I would suggest against it. There is little to no room between the right side of the bed and the closet. If your really in to crawling up the bed to get into it then go for it. Not to mention changing the sheets is not fun either. We change our to a large queen and are so much happier with it.

We bought our 10 inch cool foam mattress and it came totally compressed so it was easy to bring in out on the bed platform and cut the wrap off it.

Another thing that makes life much better is a 3" memory foam topper. We put one one our new king mattress before we made the first trip. It is soooo
comfortable.

Rather than swapping out the mattress, I’d second the foam topper idea. We use a six inh topper from. WM, and it’s fine

If you have room for a king get a split king. Makes easy to get in and out and can flip very easy in Bedroom.
