Maintenance List
Howdy,
Reading across the forum it sounds like some of you have the Maintenance on the 5'r figured out. Does anyone have a complete list of the Monthly & Annual maintenance that they do? If so, would you mind sharing? If we ever get this thing to the shop I would like to have everything taken care of at one time and we just hit our first year. I also want to do whatever i can myself.
Thanks in Advance

I don't have a list but one thing is to check the torque on all suspension and pin box bolts. Also grease bearings.

I maintain anything you see and can touch on the rv. because it all needs attention at one point or another. from the roof to the axial's. the more the unit moves the more maintenance it will need. myself being in Florida 100% of the time now, my main focus is the roof, tires, waxing, air conditioner, awning and decals with a monthly check of the fridge, water heater, and then everything else i can squeeze in between my day time job and trying to relax.

I have been able to post the list I have under the Files Menu. It's located in the Miscellaneous Documents section.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of using a cup or so of canola/olive oil in your black or gray tank to help with a hard to open and close drain valve. I thought someone mentioned about using it on your last go round when flushing out your tanks. Just want to try something before having to drop the bottom underbelly.
Thanks for any info.
Dennis.

I dump a cup or so of vegetable oil into the black tank about every other dumping. I also use Dawn every time. I know, the Dawn should counteract the oil and probably does, but I do it anyway. Come to think of it, not everything I do makes sense.

Dennis,
My suspicion is your issue is with the cable assemblies and not the valves themselves. I made mine better with WD 40 for the rust and corrosion followed by a bunch of silicone spray. I pulled the basement wall by the convenience center and took the cables loose and tied them up high as possible, spraying down the housings several times an hour over an afternoon. They work pretty good now. It’s worth a go before you go under!

I'm with MARK A. There's always something to pay attention to, even when everything is great, it can always be cleaned cleaner.
I don't do things on a "schedule", I do them as needed. I check batteries about twice a year. And in over 25 years of RV ownership of some kind or another, I've never added a drop of water to any of my batteries.
Everything else just seems to need constant attention. I check the roof seals every time I pull the slides in, because I always get on the roof and sweep the slides before pulling in the slides. I just gotten into a habit of checking seals as I walk over the roof.
I drain the water heater often. Checking the anode rod just happens every time I pull it.
Holding tanks get rinsed all the time, after every trip and often after every use dump.
Rubber seals get inspected all the time, on the roof, and on the ground, every time I walk by.
The only thing that I do on a "schedule" are the wheel bearing repacking. That gets done every 2 years in the winter months.
I'm always fixing, patching, replacing something. It never ends.
