Soultion looking for a problem!!
That's what my wife calls it We have a satellite receiver in the living room that I would occasionally want to watch in the bedroom. My previous solution was to feed the RF output of the receiver into the antenna line and watch it in the bedroom. Three things I didn't like was the picture is a letter-boxed and standard definition and I can't change channels. My first thought was to run a long HDMI cable to the bedroom but that would entail some large holes which I didn't want to do, plus still no control. Then I found this http://tinyurl.com/gpw35pp Since I have the tool to make a custom Ethernet cable I only need two 1/4" holes. This works perfectly the only drawback was unplugging and plugging the cable, enter solution #2 http://tinyurl.com/z9j96u8 this and two short HDMI patch cables makes for a neat implementation.

You didn't say which provider you use, but if Dish Network why not use a Hopper with wireless Joey in bedroom?

Actually we have a Hopper3 & Joey in the house, and I have a 211k in the Montana. I didn't want to be constantly relocating the Hopper and I didn't have the justification for two receivers in the Montana with the accompanying costs.

I did extend an HDMI cable to the bedroom and used a HDMI splitter at the 211k receiver. Works great and have HD now in the bedroom. Only wish I could change the channel from the bedroom. Sounds like what you are looking at should work. We have a Hopper and Joey at home but have a Tailgater for the BS and did not want to have to purchase a new antenna and have to fuss with having to find the satellites. We love the Tailgater's ease of operation and now the HD TV in the bedroom.

The extender using the ethernet cable is nice because it has an IR receiver and transmitter for the remote so you have total control.

We have a Wally in both the living room and the bedroom with a Travler dish on the roof. We can watch anything we want in either room. It's simple and works great.

Thanks. I didn't want to have to buy more stuff. A friend of mine is able to watch both of his TV's with one receiver but does have to watch the same thing in both rooms which is fine.

If you have the Genie you can get a Wireless Mini-Genie. The Mini gets all it's signal from the main Genie.
Friends have Genie in their SOB and take the wireless mini into their S&B and get all their normal channels and access to any recorded programs on the main Genie in the SOB.

I don't have anything other than my direct tv satellite and cable box. Don't mind watching the same thing in both rooms. Thanks
