Battery water
Should a guy buy distilled water or can I use my well water?
It tests very good, just wondering.

What do you mean your well "tests very good"? Almost all water (other than RO or distilled) has some dissolved minerals in it that is not good for a battery, regardless of how it tests. At less than one dollar a gallon for distilled water, there is no reason to use anything else.
Using distilled water ensures there is nothing else being added to the electrolyte (the "battery fluid") that will affect it. It may be a little inconvenient, but a trip to the local grocery store and a buck is worth it to help your batteries stay healthy.

X2 If you use well water or even bottled water something is going to adhere to your battery plates. If you read the label on most bottled water you'll see "minerals added for taste". Distilled was all I used when we had batteries that needed water and they always lasted past the warranty.

What I meant was it tests neutral as far as Ph, it's a little on the soft side but nearly neutral. Minerals are present but not in alarming levels. Thanks for the input.

Only distilled water here, too. Knowing this water has no contaminants/minerals/etc., and it's only about $1 per gallon, why take a chance shorting the life of an otherwise short life of a battery.

Distilled is all you should use. Even trace amounts of minerals will begin the corrosive cycle and your battery will eat itself from the inside out.

A gallon of steam distilled water costs less than a buck. One gallon will last me almost a year and that's with four T-105s. Even if you THINK your well water is great, it's not worth the cost of replacing your batteries in a year or so.

I have the 3931FB model and I can't get to the batteries because of the cover and batteries are jumped together. How can I put water in my batteries with all this junk on and around it?

green-port ... Granted I don't boondock much if any ... I check my water 2 maybe 3 times a year. Never had to add more than 1.5 oz per cell. So what I'm saying is ... it isn't that big a deal to take a cover off and move some stuff around (or even remove the batteries) to check the water say 2 times a year. Just get your phone camera out and take a photo of the tops of the batteries as to cable connections so you don't forget how it all hooks back up.

We have always used distilled water end of story. If it is hard to get the battery covers removed you need to remove what is in the way or sooner or later replace the batteries. We check the water levels every 3 months we have always had to add some distilled water . We are near full timers and the RV is in use all year round. The last thing we need is a dead battery. We have never had a dead battery in our 2 Montana's because we do regular routine maint on them . It is hard, It is cramped it kills my back but we do it.

I know not much help here. But call toll free 1 800 got junk people, are very good at what they do. Expensive. Cheaper to purchase a RO unit for drinking water and battery maintenance.
Just a quarantine humor. got to laugh about something.
