Full timing use
Are 5th wheels full time units,
From RVIA
"What is a Recreation Vehicle (RV)?
A motorized or towable vehicle that combines transportation and temporary living quarters for travel, recreation and camping. RVs do not include mobile homes, off-road vehicles, snowmobiles or conversion vehicles. RVs are sold by recreation vehicle dealers
They are not designed or intended to be residences which is what full timing is. It is your residence you live in it 24/7/365.
Mobile homes and park models are built to completely different standards and meet specifications for "residences"
We do of course Full time in them and like us use them for far more than recreational purposes. You can also google around and find what the Average use per year is for a recreational vehicle...

That is why I trade mine in for a new one every few years before mine starts falling apart ,then somebody can use it for "recreational use only" and still have many good years of fun in it

Sorry Dick, most caskets have a limited warranty. The higher dollar ones do have a life time warranty, I just never asked who's life time they were referring to.

Got it. Although not full timers we had our 06 3400 for 6 years and it served us well .We lived in it for a minimum of 250 days a year and logged over 70K miles. we wore it out.
this is the listed "Full time living package for the Montana, Do not see one listed for the new Big Sky.
•Insulated slam latch pass thru storage compartment doors with gas struts
•Enormous drop frame pass thru storage compartment
•30” Deep bedroom slide-out
•6’6” Tall main slide-outs
•Radiant technology roof insulation (R-38 total)
•Seamless underbelly enclosure
•Free standing dinette
•90 AMP Inteli-Power 4500 converter w/50 amp service
•HD Flat panel TV in Living Area (Size varies by model)
•Welcome home entry light
•12 gallon DSI gas/electric water heater
•50 gallon black tank capacity
•93 gallon gray tank capacity
•66 gallon fresh water capacity
No where in any brand Rv does it say they an be used as a residence. They do not meet construction standards and they do not meet code..that is why they are classified as " recreational vehicles" You got to separate Marketing from fact. We use our Montana's in a manner they are not designed to be used. Six months in Florida is not temporary use and when the unit is your home it is nor being used as a recreational vehicle.
The package make the unit better suited for prolonged use but des not make it a residence.
we are not excited about the build quality of the Montana or any Rv but many of the problems we have are due to the manner in which we use this Montana.

Most towns recognize that and won't let you live in your RV. Luckily the small town we have our home base in is just happy for someone who pays the water and sewer bill particularly for the 9 or so months we are gone. Thus for Wilsey, Ks we are living in an official residence.

When at our S&B which normally is not for long periods of time the Montana sits on a wide concrete pad full hookups along side and behind the house. It is plugged in powered up and ready to move. Some years ago when we were inquiring about the full hook up and how we dump the holding tanks we were asked if we intended to use the camper as a residence. We answered negative and we are Ok. We are technically in violation of code by having it were it is but the city looks the other way. We also have a 'trailer park" less than one mile away and we (fifth Wheels) are not permitted to be there because of Code. We do not meet code for a "residence" we had friends passing thought they could stay at the park after talks with the "proper authorities we learned the difference between a "recreational vehicle and a "park Model.

Homeless folks live in cardboard boxes under bridges in Chicago, year around. Are those cardboard boxes approved, certified, or built for residential living? Of course not.....but they live in them anyway and survive. My point here is we shouldn't get hung up on a definition of an RV. If they started marketing them as residential structures some idiot would have a 8'x 39' basement dug, remove the axle/wheels from his Montana, and flop it down on top of the basement for his house. Then that same idiot would sue Keystone because his pipes froze. My 2014 will get some miles on it. It will always be in temps between 40 and 100 degrees, and I will do everything possible to keep up on all the maintenance. I honestly believe that it will last a long time using it this way full time as opposed to a part time user from Illinois who camps on weekends and then stores it in 20 below temps all winter.

It looks like a little camper has made it into this condo complex, Wonder if it was approved as a residence or a RV
