Slides not moving...
Well...appears the slide motor is toast. Just loaded up to make trip to Pocono Raceway but all we got was a click, click, lights dim and CO2 detector buzz. We went anyway!!! Using my 3/8 drill while someone monitors for slide extend/retract.
Now back home;
Resistance check of armature looks fine, stator appears to be issue but hard to tell as this is a "low" resistance component, bushes are still good.
Looks like its $100.00 part 12v, CCW rotation anyone else have more input?
I have ordered a solenoid just to make sure...

Sounds like a bad battery.

I would also question the battery. Similar to a car with a low battery. Try to start it and any lights that are on (dash, dome, etc.) will go very dim and the starter solenoid will just click.

X3 on the battery. When what happened to you happened to me I took the jump start battery I carry in my truck and hooked the cables up and bingo the slides and everything else worked fine. Check the battery first then go for the harder stuff.

Batteries (2) are brand new, the other high DC load, landing gear run without any problems. Something is a miss with this motor as it sucks the 12v down big time hence the relay chatter etc as described.

The motor rotation is mute as it rotates one way to extend and the opposite to retract. The trombetta on top of the motor does the switching. Which brings a thought ... have you tried a jumper cable direct to either stud on the motor bypassing the trombetta?

I have an OLD 2002 3255RL which does not reverse the DC motor rotation... Mine has a hydraulic reversing block which has two fluid solenoids. I am using a short jumper to "pick" the IN or OUT coil and then using my electric drill spin the motor shaft (CW looking at the access hole).

Sorry about dispensing bad info ... I must have been mistaken about my first Montana ... a 2000 2850RK wich had the hydraulically activated cable slide system. My 2005 and the current 2011 did/do have the bidirectional DC motor. I wished they had left the old hand pump on the slide pump assy ... wouldn't have to keep track of the 1/4" allen bit ...

I have no objection to any and all input as it keeps my mind open to options I have missed.... Thank you everyone.
Mine is not cable operated but uses a single piston for each slide.

"wouldn't have to keep track of the 1/4" allen bit ... "
Any screwdriver bit will work, just put it in the drill backwards

Thanks Charlie, it worked great as you described...used to tweak the rotation so drive slot engaged hydralic drive on reassembly. The solenoid arrived today from Amazon.com $17.89 including shipping. Apparently the old one the contacts are likely arc'd enough to prevent sufficient current to turn the DC motor.
Happy Camper!
