BEST BLACK WATER TANK DEODORIZERS
With the increase in temps here in Texas (100* plus) we've noticed a smell when we flush the toilet. We drain it 3 times a week, flush it out good and put the liquid stuff in it for RV's.
Any suggestions for something better to use. Thanks.

We use a granulated product called Snow Fresh that has worked very well for us for almost 10 years. It's very economical and contains no formaldehyde. When we used to use formaldehyde products we always had an odor.
I notice you dump three times a week. That's really too often unless you fill your tank with a lot of water. The bacteria in the tank is what kills the odor and if you don't have much waste, you don't have much bacteria. We dump once every 7 to 8 days (up to 11 days sometimes) and we experience no odor.

As noted above, dumping three times a week is way too much. We (two of us) usually dump once a week.
Also, if the system is properly vented, a deodorizer is not needed. We use one cap of Calgon per tank.

Is "Happy Camper" only to be purchased on their web site or can you buy it in a retail store.

Lou-- If you go to "The Rally" in Louisville, KY held next month-- Happy Camper will be there for sure! I picked mine up two years ago in Georgia when we were there for The Rally! If you're heading for Louisville, think about stopping in to visit us in Nebraska for the Central Plains Regional Rally July 14th-18th. That invitation is open to anyone that reads this post also!

We are "Happy Camper" people, too. Last year while at 7 Feathers in Oregon, we discovered it at the service station/store located at the entrance to the road into the campground. It's been a great product so far.

You might also want to change the stock roof vent to either and Xtreme vent or the Cyclone vent. It moves with the wind direction and does an outstanding job of pulling fumes out of the tank. Since I installed one I have had no fumes. It works with the slightest of breezes and is a very cheap investment. Cost is around $22 for the Cyclone and $49.
