Don't know the actual rating, but all the 12 vdc circuits in my trailer are protected by 15 amp fuses. 15 amps at 12 vdc is 180 watts. I would hope the 12 vdc outlet is within the fuse rating. If not, it would be s major safety infraction unless there is another fuse in that line.

Hi
The only DC receptacle I am aware of in our trailer is the one associated with the Wineguard antenna system. Wineguard cautions you in there paperwork about using high loads on that system and post a 7.5 amp max current capacity.

Are all three associated with the Wineguard system and do they look like the cigarette lighters receptacles the use in automobiles?

I have two, the one at the antenna switch plate and one in the basement. Both are of the lighter plug type. I have used the one in the basement to power a 12 v air compressor.

Hi
Before you get too liberal with the loads you put on those receptacles remember they are wired to your 12V battery with very light wire and I am not sure they have any kind of fuse or breaker in that line.

I would be more than a little surprised if they were wired direct to the battery rather than from the fuse box. Especially if done so with no in-line fuse. But anything is possible I guess.

Hi
Well with the experience I have had with Keystone like the “loop” in the TV antenna cable that according to the build ticket wasn’t installed in my trailer because it were an “option” not included in my package then several years later found it down by the floor behind the fire place where it could never be used.
I could go on for 5 pages about this kind of stuff my trailer was delivered without or improperly installed.
Don’t assume it has any fuse in line. Check it for yourself. If it does have a fuse it should be 10 amps or less.

Don't know if anyone knows more about this or not, but I've noticed that newer phones & tablets (and a lot of other stuff) have higher charging current capability. My G5 has a fast charge duplex cord & AC adapter and the last DC charger I picked up was rated at 2 amps. Since I've a dash cam, a GPS, a phone charger X2 (LOML and tablet/phone/hot spot), I got a 1 to 3 splitter that's fused at 15 amps - but that's for my truck.
I'd bet that anything inside your Montana is not wired for the kind of load that a vehicle would provide to one of those sockets (and WHY hasn't anyone come up with a better connection that that sausage!!!!). They've probably lighter gauge wire than they should be for anything over 5 amps DC. If you need more, it shouldn't be difficult to run a heavier gauge to a new one (or even rewire an existing).
