Popcorn question
I have an 09 with the convection microwave and it won't pop popcorn. Should I try it with convection?

Are you sure you are using the microwave only feature? I have an '06 Apollo and it pops popcorn fine. If using convection, you might heat up the bag too much and possibly cause a fire....

If all else fails...read the instructions.
As a general comment...not intended particularly for this thread...many people have problems with the Apollo. After reading their problem, it's obvious they have not read or followed the instructions. The result is a broken appliance due to operator error, not the appliance's fault.

Be sure that it is on the glass only and not the metal tray. This has been a common solution.

I had that problem too. I now put a plate upside down on the microwqve tray then put the popcorn bag on top of it. Works great now.
The only thing I can figure why that works, is that my microwave came with a metal tray in it. By putting the plate upside down first, you elevate the popcorn bag above the lip of the metal tray so it gets a more direct shot from the microwave gun.
Whatever it is, it does work on my Sylvania.

I have read a lot of useful information since joining this forum, but have not really needed to comment or reply. This one, however is the best. My microwave in the house makes perfect popcorn with the push of one button. In the 2009 RV it has been very disappointing. Everything else works so well but not the popcorn button on the microwave. Not a big deal, but kind of. Tried the plate suggestion and it worked great. Thank you for your help.

I've also read that you can put the bag of popcorn on one of those microwaveable bacon trays and the popcorn will pop just fine. Haven't tried it yet (saw the tip after we'd put the rig away for the winter), but I am going to try the bacon tray and/or the upside-down plate to see if I can get popcorn to pop without burning.

I have never seen a microwave/convection over that you would use the metal tray when using only the microwave function.
The upside-down plate will work. as will anything that will elevate the popcorn bag a little.
I don't like the "popcorn" button. I will put the bag to be popped in, press the time for 3 minutes, and press start. When the popcorn get down to a pop every 2 seconds, I stop the microwave and have great popcorn.
I would not use a convection oven function for popping.
