We have a 2014 F350 Dually that we've gone through the park MANY times with...not a problem with just the truck...BUT definitely not recommended for trailers/5th wheels lagging behind cutting corners and leaving damaged goods laying on the road!

If you do take the Red Bus (highly recommended), make reservations in advance. When we got there they were booked for the next 2 weeks.

We went once I had to keep an eye out for the little cars that seem to need to drive down the center.

Little car owners have little cars for a reason ...

We drove the road in our 2017 GMC 3500 dually which is also around 22 feet. No one question our length and we had no issues driving the road. There are a few sections where you will want to pay attention to what's coming towards you in the other lane, but we had no issues. Parking at some of the popular stops was another issue!!

Also highly recommend taking a Red Bus tour. Let's you really enjoy the scenery vs paying attention to driving. Well worth it!

Glacier is on my bucket list. When do the crowds get more "manageable" to deal with? Better to go early or later in the season?

There is no need to go too early the Going To The Sun Road wont be open and they have snow and lots of it later.

Seems like we were there not long ago with three teenagers and their bad attitudes in a Coleman pop-up…but it was July 1994. It was fun! Our minivan had no trouble on the Going to the Sun Road.

We were there in early June and they were still trying to remove the 80' (That's foot) snow drift from the road.

For those who have never been West before it’s a different world out there. I’ve saw I80 closed in May and September. I tell everybody I know that goes take your coat or stop and buy a new one. You will probably need it. When it’s nice and warm back here it can be colder in the west than we see in the winter.

We were there in late June 2019 and no snow. About 10 yrs ago I was there Fathers Day week-end and it had just opened 2 days before. That time the sidewalks at the visitors center had been cut through about 8-9 ft of snow. It really depends on how much snow they get the previous winter. Opening GTTSR ranges from early June to early July

We are going to book a Red Bus tour to do the GTSSR and use the shuttle to go to Logan Pass for the Highline Trail Hike.......we can drive to Many Glacier and North North Fork with our truck.
Thanks for all the suggestions!

When you get to drive over the summit at Glacier you'll understand why they have the limit as soon as you start to climb the hill. Thinking that you should even remotely try to challenge the idea is beyond foolish. It's there for your safety and more importantly the safety of others. You have a right to be reckless with YOUR safety but not with others.

Half of the cars going the opposite direction had no clue on how NOT to burn up their brakes. That's a bigger safety issue than a long truck
