That dreaded pivot door
I know many of you all have done this. I just have one question.
I have reset this door at least a half dozen times and I'm through with it. For those that have replaced the pivot with regular hinges, what did you have to do to remove the pivot hardware. The track and pulley are not a problem but the upper and lower pivot bars seem to connect behind the door frame. I haven't started to remove it yet, just wondering what others ran into.

Following. We hate the pivot door but it hasn't given up the ghost the first time yet to move up the priority list.....

I am seriously thinking about making the door slide like the bedroom on our 3820 fk. I have looked at Lowe's and they look like they may have the parts to do it. I will look into it more after we move in April.

Our Class A we recently sold to buy out Monty has a bath door that rattled like crazy going down the road, I removed it and put a curtain up, and we ended up rally liking the curtain no noise and it actually gave us more bathroom space. I am doing the same to the Monty as it will add more room in the bath and the hall. Look those hollow doors with gaps top and bottom do not offer any more privacy then a heavy blackout curtain.

I have changed our hinges and am glad I did. The hardware is behind a panel strip and secured to a light stud and is easily removed. I then filled the space the hardware was in with another light stud cut down to fit the space .the piece of paneling was then braded in place to cover up the studs and the hinges were fastened to door and frame. Everything was adjusted to fit and work smoothly.

Thanks for that info. That's how I thought it might be. I think we're going to go with a curtain for the start and see how that works. I can always put the door back on with hinges if we want.

You can get a nut that is thinner than the one on the "truck" now. Remove the original nut completely and pit the new nut on top instead of below the "truck" on the door. Some Loctite will make sure is does not come loose. 3000 miles since I modified and has not budged. A lot easier than disassembling/ modifying the what is already there.

We have a 2018 3731FL and while I at first thought it was a great idea it was not long before I realized maybe not. The concept is OK however the hardware Keystone utilized was not adequate for the job. The problem was the threads in the nut kept striping out which allowed the nut to come loose. Having replaced the hardware four times in three years, we replaced ours this last weekend with hinges in about 1.5 hours. Wife is happy so I very happy.

This is what I did: it worked really well and has held up over time. We also had to re-secure the mechanism in the door frame; it was easy to pry away the trim, re-seat the screws and replace the trim so I think you wouldn't have trouble opening it up to take it all out.

I 'fixed' my pivot door by putting a stick-em felt pad at the bottom of the door. That keeps the door from going 'over center' and locking up when I open it. The ones I used are oblong, about 1/2' x 2", picked them up at HomeDepot.
Works about 99% of the time.

Ditto
.. Keeping an eye on the hardware though based on the collective experience of the folks on the forum here.

We are Watching this thread too, but we have had more trouble with the bedroom sliding door. Looking for optional hardware for that. TIA

Pivot bathroom door
I've heard about folks using barn door sliders at the top which would save space too but not sure where to find hardware for it.

Door update
So I spent some time studying the design of the roller hardware for this door and think I figured out the problem. As the door pivots back and forth the T-bolt that the door is hanging from wears out the threads in the roller. Tried putting a nut on top of the roller but that just worked it's way loose. So I decided to set it up different.
I drilled out the roller to 5/16, and got a 5/16-18 round head machine screw. Slid the screw through the roller facing down and locked it into the bracket on top of the door with two lock nuts.
At the same time I had heard somewhere on this forum or another one that MorRyde who make the hardware has and updated version. I had reached out to them via email and heard back from Jennifer there and yes there is in fact a newer version of the roller. She sent one out to me free of charge and it arrived today.
Similar design to my mod except where mine rotates freely in the roller, theirs rotates freely in the bracket. I think both designs are a major improvement to the original and I am confident I will be able to use our pivot door for some time to come.
I will keep my mod in place for now and if it fails I will then install the MorRyde part.
Hats off to MorRyde.

I just fixed mine again (2nd time in a month). As
DebNJim B pointed out the bolt wears out the nylon thread in the roller. I tightened up the bolt where it actually threaded through the metal roller threads, then put it back up in the track. Then lubricated all moving parts, pivot, hinges top and bottom. Runs smoothly now.
I think DebNJim B fix is a better way to go.
Looks like the new one is nylon???
Not sure how long that will last.
