3120 RL 2019 Montana Solar Prep
3120RL 2019 Montana. What exactly does this mean? And what do I have to do to make it work ( does it have all but the solar panels?) It has plugs on the roof, for solar panels.

All that is there is the wiring. All the components need to be added.

What components are we talking about? As you know I nothing about the components such as a switch, or will the converter be enough. I have only worked on one other solar and generator switch in California to disable or jumper the box that did this because the junction box was broken.

Just wanted to charge a battery, I have done more research and that is way to much for my needs! we do most of our camping in the wooded areas of Ohio Mich, and Penn. Was just curios for a project that was interesting!!!!Thank you all for your response. I have been reading as many post that I can, and I am new to the forum! I did my first snow bird winter in southern Cali last year and noticed a lot of solar! Thanks again!

You might want to start here for the components part.

I just add 2-170 watt panels to my 3120. The wires are in from the roof to the control panel area. Where they are located behind panel and then go to fuse and to battery. The wires are small 10 gage wire and not good for any more than 2 panels.

Has anyone figured putting it together themselves? The panels and a controller are relatively inexpensive compared to what the dealer would charge. Just need to know how what to hook up.

Many here have DIY installed solar. It is not a too terribly difficult undertaking. However there are many places to go wrong and wind up with a poorly functioning system. Also mistakes can be costly or hurtful depending on the size of your system.
IMHO if you do yourself a favor and determine up front exactly what you want your system to accomplish then you can calculate the necessary amp hour requirements, battery capacties and solar panel wattages using readily available online calculators (google). This way your excpections will be more likely to align with your results.

I did my own, easy, a number of suppliers out there, some want to sell you the most expensive set up. Do some research and get just what you need.

We have a 2018 3121RL all we have is the wiring on the roof, you don’t get a controller, no charger, we have a 2000watt inverter be we have the residential refrigerator.
You still have to buy all that however I hear now you can order them with an entire solar kit, not worth it iIMHO only because you can’t run AC off of them and batteries that are decent are expensive. Friends of ours who are full time spent nearly $4,000 for a decent solar setup. You can get whisper quiet generators for that kind of money.
We are looking at a Champion Dual Fuel 3500 watt which can run 1 AC and we are only using the propane feature don’t want gas smells in our front storage compartments

I would like some help on a 2019 RL 3120 with solar prep.... I have the panels in and have the bulkhead off in the downstairs bay... I think I found the correct wires but with everything thing off and battery disconnected I am get voltage from both red wires....any one know where the controller goes for the solar prep. I called Keystone and they said even though I bought solar prep the wiring info is internal use only.

i read on the 3121/33210 face book page about the install.
The wire are connect to the battery already. with 30 Amp fuse.
if a controller is installed it is on the ODS.
i will install ours up front next to the batteries.
this is the pic that was copied.

Thank you so much. I think I will abandon the wire that runs to the battery.
And instal controller in battery compartment.
My plan is
1. Solar. 2. A direct 8 gage wire from truck battery thru a fuse and relay to battery to recharge battery from truck faster. 3. A champion propane generator.
4. Upgrade to new battery bank...all for a better dry camping experience.

Unless that solar controller states that it is ignition protected (no arcs, sparks) or you have agm batteries, I would not put it in the battery compartment. Any offgassing will also contaminate the circuit board and lead to failure in the future.
