Unload cabinets before moving?

We are full timers for almost 2 years now, but we have not been moving around. That's going to change and we are going to hit the road as much as possible. We are currently in CO, and we will be going through WY, a couple of month stop in ID, then down to AZ for around 4 months this winter.

My questions is what advise you give us about traveling with stuff in the cabinets, or to unload the stuff into totes and put them on the floor. I am on the side of a little prevention saves a lot of time and $$$ on repairs later. The wife thinks it won't be much of a problem.

Any input will be appreciated from those of you with experience.

Thanks
