Landing Gear Limit Switch
Keystone, you may have noticed there are periodic failures of the landing gear. No doubt some of those are legitimate problems but at least some/several are because we operators inadvertently fail to stop pressing that button when the gear reaches full extension or retraction, for whatever reasons. We don't do it on purpose. We try to keep that from happening. But sometimes it just happens.
The result may be a blown fuse. Or it may result in more serious, more expensive, damage.
I, for one, would really like to see the design of the landing gear mechanism include some kind of limit switch to cut power to the gear motor when the extension and retraction limits have been reached.
Maybe it's just me but it seems this would be a benefit to many of us.
