rods under Montana

The rods have electric coiled around them and they slide in and out. They are 1/4 inch rods x 4.5 feet long. We have found out that ours are bent, both of them. The ends are broken off. What we need to know is how this happened and has anyone had this happen before. It should not have happened in our opinion. This is under the living room/kitchen slide. We own a 28.5 rear kitchen model, year 2000. Any help will be appreciated.
